I heard a slight ticking noise coming from under the hood for the first time on my 05 coupe. Anybody know what it might be? Anybody else have this problem ever?

ticking noise is either:1) bad valves, probably need some adjusting2) your fuel injectors going bad3) or Normal sound. My 06 G is always knockign or ticking.

I don't know much about engines or G35s (just bought mine not too long ago) but I would check your oil level. I had an old car that leaked oil and when it would get low, you could hear the engine tick pretty loud. Just a thought, I'm sure others will chime in soon with a better answer.

Yeah, so far it sounds like it was low on oil. I put some in this morning, drove it work and let it get hot and no noise so far. I'm hoping that is what it was.

it's a bomb, it's a bomb.

sorry had to.

Anyways maybe a good idea to check your oil consumption. Could be the case.

Anybody else agree that the oil dip stick is a pos?

I think the stick is fine...the position sucks though! ...and no hood shocks

They fixed issues like this in 08.

That's an inexpensive upgrade. You can buy a kit and install it. The whole kit with the shock is like $50-60. Maybe Beencooker would do it. He is always up to something cool.
