I've started to develop ticking, sounds like a lifter, it only happens sometimes when the engine temp is at operating temp, not on start up. Oil pressure is normal, 46psi on start up cold, 18psi idle hot, 10psi increase per thousand. Any ideas, what would cause what sounds like lifter noise at random times and not at others?. And if it is a lifter, is there a easy way to pin point the bad one? Cash flow is tight, dont have money to replace all.

try running a heavier weight oil. Make sure the viscosity at operating temps is consistent with your climate.
