i have a ka24e and when i start the engine cold it has a loud ticking noise. goes away after 10 seconds. i thought it was valve tick so i checked the clearances and they were within spec. engine is strong and runs good. no problems other than this tick right after start up. has anyone else ever had this problem?

its normal, it takes a few seconds for the tensioners to tighten when you start the engine

If im not mistaking the KA's are noturious for oil pump failures. try timing chain if youwould like first then try oil pump if timing chain fails to fix problem
