I just replaced my spark plugs recently and my idle dropped from 1500 -> about 1200, so i was happy about that. I am still needing a new IACV, but regardless, my car maybe..... a day after switching the dead plugs began making a ticking noise that is easily audible from the cockpit. it speeds up with acceleration, will sometimes go away when either maintaining speed, dropping speed, or slowly! accelerating, but starts up when quickly accelerating and completely dropping into neutral and coasting. When i depress the clutch the noise will either stop or atleast lessen. I thought the noise was coming from one of my cylinders after replacing the spark plugs but thats not the case cause i have tested each plug and the noise still occurs when the coil packs are disconnected individually.

Any ideas would be most welcome, this problem is pissing me off.

Note: I didnt take the balance bar and disconnect some of the hoses to access the 5th and 6th cylinder but i reconnected all the hoses as far as i know. Also, I was advised by my mechanic to redo all the injector connections, cause previously the 5th cylinders connector was loose, but all cylinders are firing.

Thanks

same things? i may have to go check. Ive checked to see if my fan was spinning and there was some resistance in turning it, but i thought that might be normal.

Nothing was in the clutch fan, but the fan behind the air intake isnt moving at all because of a tube on the bottom thats obstructing it. Dont know if thats major or not... I think it may be valve ticking from improper installation of plugs. Possibility?

When did you change your oil last? Sounds like a lifter from low/old oil. How many miles are on the engine? Could be carbon buildup on the pistons causing detonation. Is your engine running rich?

Well, in my case the sound went away. The only bad thing is that the sound went away as soon as the starter crapped out on me. Push starting the car it runs just fine. All that I have to do now is replace the starter.
