over the past several months i've noticed a ticking sound slowly begin to develop. when i open up the hood and listen it seems to come from the belt/pulley thats located at the center top of the motor. i sprayed some "belt dressing" on the belt and it stops the noise for a few days but then it comes back. is it something i can adjust? or do i need to replace the pulley and belt? 1996 SE Auto 165kms thanks

I have the same problem with a 98 QX4, sounds almost like a faint cricket chirping. I just replaced both serpentine belts and that did not stop the noise. I dont know what it is but if someone knows please let me know. Could it be the bearings in the pulley(s)? How do you replace them? THanks!
