Hello to all! specs : 1995 240sx seKa24de motorautonew to the forum

problem: Okay for some reason my engine is ticking. Ever since i have had the car there has been a ticking sound. It becomes very loud or faster in tempo when I turn on the a.c. I guess when the belts kick in for the a.c. and it speeds up when i accelerate as well. It has at no point intefered with my day to day driving or engine running but it is annoying. The hardest thing is with the ac on it is LOUD outside of the car. I cant seem to isolate it. please help!

On to other things: I have had my car since may of last year. It has been through a lot. Two days after i bought it it was backed into by a chevy malibu.....d#@m malibu! Then when that was fixed i had somebody back into it with a truck....crunch. Hood number two gone! okay so that was fixed and i finally had it right and got hit on driver side quarter panel. Now it has a primer patch on it. Next i tore our my side skirt crub jumping-my fault. then it was beautiful again until hood number 3 came off and decided to destroy itself while i was going 75mph on the highway. Oh yeah before that some kid broke my quarter window to steal my stereo (which wasnt even in there) while the door was open. So thats basically my story except I have hood number 4 sitting my office and iam going to install it today. I totally love my car. I have owned all kinds of neat vehicles but this really is the only one I keep resucitating. I may not have been a 240 fan for long but im all sold out to the 240 now.

mileage of the car might help... have you checked your fluids? (coolant, oil, etc.)

Are you sure it just isnt the injectors doing their thing? Ka injectors are pretty loud and do get annoying(to me). Other than that maybe check the oil level. I still think you're hearing the injectors though. Put a screwdriver handle to your ear and touch the metal end to 1 injector and see if thats the sound. And welcome to Nico bud-dy!

I checked it a second ago. Its definetly not the injectors. This is LOUD! My neighbour has a 240 same year and motor etc and his does not sound like it at all. it sounds like a fingernail ticking on a 240sx fender (thin hollow sound!-if you get my drift)

Could be the timing chain guides but its more of a rattle than a ticking. How are the belts on your car? Where is the ticking from ie: front of the engine, side, back?

I got the same problem in my car.

If it's the same sound it's either your lifters or your valves. Your gas milage will suffer horribly over time and you will bellow smoke out of your exhaust pipe. My tips are black.

I need to get a new head :p
