I changed my oil last week and noticed that there was a ticking noise. I used 5w-30 as recommended for the ka24de. Is it because the viscosity is too low? Do I need to change my oil to 10w-30? By the way, will my motor f*ck up on me? Has anyone experienced this?

thanks to those who reply cause' i'm gettin' worried about this noise.

check your oil level... it sounds like the 'timing chain tick' it gets louder when the oil pressure is low...

its a good start!

Or it's also likely it's your rockers... which is also directly linked to the oil.. basicly check your oil... also depending on how many miles are on the engine you might consider switching to 10w 30.... 5w 30 can be to light for well worn engines...

Oil level is up there (full). Milage on my s13 is 117k. Probably it's my oil viscosity. By chance, could it be my oil pressure because I don't know anything about oil pressure. If it is, how do I check my oil pressure?

Thanks to all those who reply.

i use 10w-40... where do you live? temperatures can effect the oil.. or maybe it's just your timing chain guides.

Remember to much oil is almost as bad as to little... it's supposed to be in the middle of the checkerd pattern. it's either your timing chain making the noise.. your rockers... ot if it's a ticking sound it could just be your injectors doing their thing..

I live in Northern California. 80 miles north of Sacramento CA. Let me try to change my oil again and see what happens.

Its your upper timing chain guides.

Remove upper guide cover in front under valve cover (with half circle rubber things), then remove upper timing chain guides.

Most likely, issue solved. Its possible it could be some lifters, but not usually.
