I know on the DE 2 valve guides were discontined due to a ticking, could be a similar problem.~Sam

timing chain possibly, check that. chain guides could be bad

EDIT: nevermind, didn't notice you already replaced that.

well.. we looked it over again the other day and it seams the oil pump was working for that one day and decided to go crap on us... so now we dont have oil up top and i took the rockers off to see if anything was in the oil passages and yeah... there was quite the little mess in them... and also on the rockers are you suppose to be able to push the part in were they meet the valve???? anyway... that would explain the light staying on... because we had a little pressure but i guess not enough... and just one more thing.... when you have the valve cover off should it be shooting oil pretty nicely out the top??? because we dont even have a drop comin off....

Yeah it should shoot oil out a couple of feet away from the engine.

P.S.) KoukiKA240, you car is not a kouki 240.

Its actually a CHUKI. The kouki model was not available in the U.S., And i was just wondering if you knew that...

The main rocker/lifter oiling that comes thru the center bearing cap/tower is prone to clogging. Usually the block portion of the passage itself clogs as it is smaller diameter. You can try shoving some thin straight wire down that center passage in your head, wiggling it around trying to get as far down as possible. I have seen this to be much more common on Z series engines but the causes are same. Usually when a nissan/datsun is in the shop with this problem, the end result is pulling the head and/or engine replacing. I have only been able to fix one Z24 this way, along with some compressed air.

It could be something else, but i highly doubt it. Do you have any sort of debris in your oil? Plastic chip/dust perhaps?

i changed the oil when i changed the pump... we cleaned all the rockers and the rocker shafts clean... how offens this a problem with its cloging in the center main cap???because ive heard of the pickup screen clogging.. and thats a pain in the you know what.... but yeah... im thinking about takin it to a mechanic to check things out because i have no compressor eather to shoot air down there....

Buying a small compressor would cost about half of what the mechanic charges.

hey man im havin the same problem with my ka24e. i replaced all my rocker arms with new ones and right after i installed them it still ticked, ran it for a while and it went away. a week or so later and its back ticking again. my mechanic told me that it wasnt the timing chain, even though mine has a little slack in it.
