Ok... so today i was running a little late... and i decided to lay the rubber to the road on Lido Blvd (notorious for cops)... I figured i had an important meeting in the morning... and its the beginning of the month (quota) so i should be good...

I was wrong... and my Escort x50 was useless today (although its saved me many times already)

I did a couple of quick lane changes and then gassed it...

A half mile down the road a Nassau County cop came into my rear-view and hit the lights...

Although i am very road-conscious i didnt see him when i was making my maneuvers...

I busted out all my 5-0 gear when he approached the window...cop:"know why i pulled you over?"me: to tell you the truth sir, i dont think i was speedingcop: well a half mile back when you were cutting between cars you were

20 minutes later (meeting is starting in my office) he returns to my car with a ticket....

"imprudent speed: 50+ in 30 area" its mandatory court appearance (id be showing up anyways)

I looked it up online and its a 3 point ticket (we cant have that!) and i have been racking my brain all morning to figure out what i did last time to request "supporting documentation" which they rarely submit (within the 30 days required by law) and you get off the hook...

It begins with the Perry laws of 1996 and then changes in 1999 with the Guerrerio case...

CPL 100.25 is what dictates the submittion of the supporting documentation but im confused as to the time stipulations.. Do i need to make the request within 48 hrs of the violation, or is it within 30 days of my court appearance (which is over a month away)...

Any help/links/LEO who can assist is appreciated...

lol

http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/....html

Whenever you get a ticket ALWAYS request this "supporting documentation" its essentially a plain english description of the violation... and many times they never submit it... and you are off the hook...

From what i read online, some counties are advised to NEVER submit the suporting documentation...

LOL.... in perfect road conditions, i dont think that going 50mph is "unsafe driving" by anyones definition...

But as they say "tell it to the judge" and we will see what happens!

Mc... are they anal about tickets in canada? worse/better than the states?

I got a ticket a while back. A bad one. 50 in a 25. It was on my campus which is a mile long straight road and it was at night with NOBODY there. I was half asleep and i was pressing the gas the entire time and not noticing it. Got a ticket, went to court and got a "no point ticket" (Im in NJ, dunno if you have them) but basically, i paid 300, got no points, got no insurance raise. In my opinion, it was worth it because this was WAY back when i was stupid and had my provisional license and the extra 3 points would have taken my license away. But i dont drive like a moron anymore. (for the most part, sometimes you just gotta hear the car!)
