Question: How do you prove you were wearing your seatbelt?

I mean, If an officer needs to generate revenue couldn't he pull over anyone and claim they weren't wearing their seatbelt. It's the officer's word against your's, and the officer's would is usually accepted.

I know when I was stupid enough not to wear my seat belt, when I got pulled over for speeding I slipped it on quickly. If the officer comes to the window and you are wearing your seatbelt how can the officer still write you a ticket for no seatbelt?

Just hoping there isn't any abuse

Every officer I've ever heard comment on that question has said that they can usually see when you put your seatbelt on after they've stopped you. I'm sure it varies depending on the design (stupid GM on-the-seat shoulder belts are probably easier to hide...and I imagine you could stealthily put on your lap belt if you're in a car with power shoulder belts).

I know guys who hate seatbelts passionately and will do all manner of awkward things to make it appear that they are wearing the belt when they're not (sit on it, pull it across but not buckle it...all of which beg the question...if you're bothering with that, why not just wear the damn thing anyway?)

however I received the fine and it was 132$

what's up with this?

it shoudl be no more than 20$ for the 1st offense
It is a bit pricey given the offense, but it's surprising that it takes a law to get people to excercise common sense. But what really strikes me odd that there are states that will ticket automobile drivers without seatbelts yet don't require motorcyclists to wear crash helmets, which seems more dangerous. I won't name names but one state that does that begins with the letter PENNSYLVANIA.

mark (tigerse-r) got a ticket on his bike for not having his visor down. he had something in his eye, flipped it up to handle it and got pulled over before he got a chance to flip it down. what kind of bs is that? how about all the guys that cruise around without a full face helmet or no helmet at all? i never see or hear about them getting their balls broken.

Philosophize as much as you want, then come back to reality where your ticket will be waiting. The law is the law. Follow it, break it and stop b****ing about the consequence, move somewhere else or doing something more productive about it then b****ing on the internet.

So tired of people breaking laws that they know about, then complaining on the internet because of how it should be.
Oooo, somebody got a little, butt hurt. We get it bro, you love the "law".

Makes sense. I'm just used to my car with limo tint.

If I see an officer even change lanes behind me the belt would go on

Now I just wear it everywhere.

My other question, How do you contest a ticket if you truely were wearing your seatbelt and the officer made a mistake? It seems that this is one of those things wear if you're accused you're guilty

Same, I cant even turn the motor over w/out my seatbelt on, even in the Corolla where I have to hook up all 5 points of my harness. Something feels wrong if I dont wear it.

my local Nissan dealership informed me that the automatic seatbelts in my 240 are under a lifetime warranty, cos its a safety issue. Go visit your dealer and see what they say.

I'll admit, I've been driving my mustang around since my 240's motor blew, and since it's not automatic, a lot of times I forget about it. I quickly notice when I check my speed, seatbelts of everyone in the car whenever I see a cop.
