So yeah, on a 'private' road. I happened across this Tiburon, a 2006 model V6.

I was behind him, came out to his right and went to pass... he put up resistance, then we hit a red light. Surprised i am that a Tiburon was able to keep me at bay, i asked him the year (2006). Then a lil nice talk, waiting for the light...

Green, and I bogged first, CRAP! I think to myself, I'll just catch him... but wait, he is staying ahead. Second gear comes, the distance stays about the same. When I hit third I FINALLY start to close in a little, but then we let off midway through.

I wait till the next light comes, we chit chat again. I rev up, slip the clutch a tiny bit and get a little wheel spin, but she just pulls hard. I see the Tiburon's hood is still next to me. second gear, no wheel spin (good clean shift). During second gear he falls to my bumper. Then third gear comes on to finish him, almost a full car between us.

Since when are Tiburon's quick? I thought they were hardly able to get into the low 15's?

So um, street racing is bad and stuff, only do it on private roads and whatnot. speeding is bad, i don't advocate any of it... just had to share my surprise of the week!

Yeah CAs are not exactly the big cats of the jungle, more like wolverines. Still any race that is close is fun.

I need to quit talking to you vermin and get my damned intake on! I can't turn the turbo up to "holy ****" without them subinjectors. It's like sitting in a hotel room with Tera Patrick and just talking to her about flowers and ****.

Tru, CA's arent the top kitties katts around... but sure know how to play with them given proper motivation.

It was lots of fun, and he was cool. like i said, we chit chatted, and i got to tell him it had a silvia motor in it.

Also, dunno how many of u guys have owned cars with tea tops, but mine were off for the race... dunno how much of a differance in times those can make?

i have come to find that the CA is much better while on the roll since they are fairly gutless below 3000rpm. I have no problems keeping up with the older b5 audi s4's (V6 bi-turbo) on the autobahn and other cars in the class. They dont really pull away from me. Off the line i do find it hard sometimes to keep up with "lesser" cars just due to the lack of low end punch.

ive found that the ca powered 240sx can handle quite a few big guns from a roll. my fourth gear is downright sketchy fast.

Another thing that surprised me about this was a few weeks ago I gave an Acura RSX a good hard run... the driver (some sideways hat homie) wouldnt look at me because i came from behind him in a lot.We both took a left, i got in the far right lane and punched it... lit up my rubbers and fell two cars back (give or take). Then i got traction in second and caught up to him. by the time third hit i was almost nose to nose with him, then we let off because of traffic.

This was another race without my tea tops on... and the rsx was MUCH slower then the Tiburon.

CAs are like 600CC sport bikes. They suck from a stop but if you are moving and keep it in the power band you can give as good as you get. With a lightened flywheel and perfect shifts I could tailgate RB20DET Skylines with my little CA18DE (no, I didn't forget the T)

Reminds me of when i did 140mph in my pulsar... ca18de... and about 5 miles of highway... maybe more? When i told that story at school, kids just laughed at me... and i mean wyotech. It was kind of annoying, i KNOW it sounds unbelievable.. but 6500 or so in fifth gear buried past 125 hitting the 'reset stick'. Just seemed like 135-140 area.

heh heh, to be young and slow again (well not really!).

You are right in the fact that they are not slow, but you should've spanked that @ss even if he got the jump on you. With my 1.6litre turbocharged elantra, I've made a few of them do a double take. And as for the RSX, I have a friend with one and he hates my hyundai because I used to smoke him with it and I still can. But to make matters worse, my CA powered sentra will destroy my hyundai with a 4G61T or 4G63T in it (doesn't matter).

Your pulsar should be manhandling that tiburon because though the CA is a bit under-sized, it is by no means a slouch and doesn't bow down to anything on the street, highway, private road or whatever. I did however get my butt handed to me years ago at the track, but between laggy turbo and traction issues, those days are long gone and the CA won't be the under dog on my next outting (This I promise ).

My CA18DE with air filter, header, no cat, muffler, more fuel and the light flywheel would top out at 205KPH, whatever that is in MPH.

I think thats right about 130mph.

heh heh.. i had a lil bit of a down hill on the last stretch, i think thats how i got 140mph (225kph?)

And dee, i put him about a car back by third gear... with my tops off too... i think that makes a difference up top.

I was just joking with my last comment about CA's not being fast. LOL i wanted to see where this thread would go. Anyway i just got back from scaring the **** out of a 01 Cobra Supercharged. I never realized they made that in a conv. and seeing as i now have a miata as my daily i had to **** with the guy for being a vert driver. After a little muscle flexing we finally both took off i was at about 5000 rpm in second gear. He had a steady pull on me until 90 but get this by the end he barely had a full car on me. LOL. I get up next to him we talk I go "I only have a 1.8l". he goes that thing is fast. I said thanks made no comments on his car even though i would kill to have a supercharged cobra and turn off. LOL My little CA can definitely hold it's own on the private roads.

205km/h is about 123mph

225km/h is about 135ph

I have only run mine 200sx up to about 240km/h (traffic is a mofo). thats about 145mph. still had plenty left in it. with stock fuel cutoff (7400rpm for mine), it should be good for 163mph from what i have read on other forums.

He probably had the V6 Tiburon. If so, he's got gobs more torque than you do.

Race him from a roll and you'd have pwnd him....

Heh heh, i only fell behind the first run because i bogged instead of launching. the second race when i launched i still was able to keep him behind me.

also, is it a bad thing that i dont see full boost untill 3600-3800rpm?

i too have smoked a 01 cobra. this one was stock, but still a good kill. i didnt just get a lousy carlength on it, i smoked the crap out of it. those things have really long gears, so from a roll its pretty useless. ive sent a couple of evo 8s packing too, but those were quite close, and definitely from a roll. i know better than to go from a stop against a 4wd torque monster. case in point, the ca18 is nobody's *****.

Hey R34 GTR:

How's the resurrection (sp?) of the CA coming? I got almost all of the parts I want to install sitting in my office, just no tools to do it. One of the guys is gonna help me out next weekend (mechanic from my unit).

Anyway, I can feel the power that is held inside the CA. It makes me smile everytime I get in the car.
