The wastegate we just installed is constantly venting is it supposed to do that? We ran the vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator. We are still reading boost of the AFC but cant figure out how much because the numbers are whack. Prompt help would be appriceated

The wastegate needs to hooked to a boost controller, why did you hook it to the fuel pressure reg. I'm not quite sure what ur talking about, ur reading boost, but the gate is always venting and your numbers are whack, what exactly is whack?

You don't neccesarily need a boost controller but you most definitely need a boost line to the wastegate or it will never open.

The only way I can think of that the wastegate would be normally open is if you didn't install the valve seat into the wastegate flange. It's the little ring that goes into the recess in the base flange of the WG. If you don't have that in it will never seal.

Got it fixed about an hour after the post...when my friend put it on he let the seal ring move and it went in crooked a little so it didnt seat. after tightening the bolts down somehow the threads got destroyed on one, I barely got it out to realign the ring, it works great now. And it said to vent the top to the atmosphere without a boost controller and attatch the lower to a vaccum. Just like a boost gauge the FPR line works. Thanks again for the help

Why do you insist on putting vacuum to a wastegate!

The control is from boost pressure not vacuum. The thing needs positive pressure to open and do its job. If you screw this up you will melt down your engine. You need to understand how this device works.

The vacuum line going to the FPR from the throttle body isnt actually a vacuum there is pressure running through it.

Some where on the pressure side of the turbo. Either the compressor housing, hot IC tube or the intake manifold. Most turbos have a port in the compressor housing that you can tap into.

Every singal one of you're vacuum lines will have positive pressure once boost is going through the motor. So it doesn't matter which line you hook up to the wastegate, it will work just fine.

you will want your pressure sensor to be after the intercooler if you are using an electronic boost controller. this way you won't see boost drop through the i.c.
