Ive narrowed down the bump I mentioned in an earlier thread ..Its only on the drivers side front and I can duplicate it now with the brakes ..

If i get the car rolling very slowly .. Like 1 mile and hour .. and hit the brake hard .. I get the thump .. same as hiting a small hole in the road at speed ..

If I ease into the brakes as usual .. no thump ..Only when I step on em hard and its just on the drivers side ???

Tension Rod maybe ???Im not convinced the struts are out because I finally tracked down where the previous owner had service done and the timing belt and struts were done back in 2002 .. Carfax led me to the area he lived in ,, and I took a guess it was Grubbs Infinity in Hurst Texas and was right ..

Any ideas ??

Its a 94 J30 .. 125 K

Sounds like "momentary caliper grab and go". Haven't had it on the J, but did have it on the front passenger disk of the Cherokee. It hard to diagnose, because the caliper still looks good and works. What basically happens is that during hard braking, the caliper grabs and then for whatever reason momentarily lets go before grabbing again, causing a thunk.

But thats the weirdness ...If I hit a small bump or a small pothole I get the same clunk ... No brakes involved ..

Get your vehicle up on a hoist and throughly inspect your suspension. If you find nothing their throughly inspect your rotors and brake assembly.

Inspect your tire too.
