Not a VH but there is a tremendous amount of Nissan specific knowledge here so...

2K frontier and the throwout bearing housing is spinning on the fork, allowing the fork to slip off the pad, get cockeyed and the clutch won't disengage. From memory I cannot recall what keeps the bearing from spinning, I thought it was the spring. Any thoughts?

The spring is in there...do they wear out? We are thinking of cutting an access hole in drivers side of trans and replacing it, think it's possible?

well... you can't change the bearing or hub that way, trans has to be out. The spring holds it in place, but the hub is kinda machined square so it can turn. Either, the spring broke and the fork slid back far enough for it to spin... or the fork spread.... or a million other things. Its a truck, pull the transmission, shouldn't take but a couple hours. If the bearing is bad you will have to pull, hacking up the transmission would be silly.

Wish it were that easy. Pulling the Z trans is easy, truck is 4wd and you have to pull the torsion rods and x member, and it sits on 35's so we need a giant jack and trans cradle, it's a pita. Thanks for the input, we may just pull the trans to make sure we aren't wasting time.
