I replaced the clutch when I swapped my KA. This was the first time I ever replaced a clutch so naturally I didn't expect it to last long. I didn't replace the throwout bearing OR the pilot bearing because the throwout bearing that came in the kit didn't fit and I didnt own a pilot bearing puller or a slide hammer. ( and I still dont know where the pilot bearing goes even after fully disassembling my other ka engine)
Im in the process of breaking it in and being very gentle to it. I started to hear a light grinding sound when the clutch is released and out of gear but not when the clutch is depressed. it wasn't very noticeable but it has gotten slightly worse, and it was pretty loud in fourth gear the last time I was driving
I know if going to have to take the transmission back off, probably buy the lightweight flywheel and a descent clutch. but when I go to put them back on I wont know what to do if I get another bad throwout bearing and dont know how to properly install the pilot bearing. I still have both bearings from the last kit just laying around but the throwout is rusting.
Anybody had this happen before?

Thats happening to both my 240sx and my b14 200sx. Both have new Clutch kits and both all parts were replaced. The only thing I can think of is the pivot ball is wearing out causing the throw out bearing to not be aligned properly, or the throw out bearings are just made cheap. Next time either trani gets pulled its Nissan only for me. Oh btw pitot bearing goes into the back of the crankshaft and if you don't have a "special " tool, fill the whole with grease and then take your alignment tool and a hammer and hydrolic it out.

Hmm I wonder If I could get away with just replacing the throwout bearing. What clutch kit did you use? Mine was from autozone, never again will I buy autozone parts for this car.

The one for my 200sx is a Tennessee clutch. The one for the 240 is an act Clutch. Im sure you could just replace the throw out bearing. It seems to me that everyone is cheaping out on the throw out bearing because both my clutches feel great except for that sound. I noticed in both kits the tob was not made by there company. Also I've gotta do some research because the sr20det tob is different than what they use in the kits. The tob in the kits are a stock ka tob. The SR tob should be smaller ....anyways I would get a Nissan or nismo tob and nothing else
My OEM tob's weren't even bad when I did the clutch kits.....I should have reused it! Lol

yeah same here my clutch feels great its just the noise that bothers me. I agree with you about the cheap throwout bearings I've seen a couple threads about how some of them dont fit and how you have to modify them to work. sounds like NISMO parts are the answer for this one.
