nope. no big hole... i was told that is was the piston rod. i ran it on too low of oil, so it wore the bearings out on the rod. it was a mistake that is going to cost me quite a bit of money. lol.

ya, if you really throw a rod bad, it will break the bottom part of the bearing and fly through the side of your engine. it will put about a fist sized hole in the side of your block, and total the engine. then there will be a rod lying on the road. ive seen it hapen to a saturn, its bad.

if you have low income, id say go with a nice used ka24de, may need a little work when you get it, like it may burn a little oil, ect...

ok the deal is, i was told that i would be better off buying a used ka24de and dropping it in for right now... then i can work on my old engine on the side. that way when i get the pistons enlarged and turbo kit put on it i can drop it back into my car and sell the other one. anyone know where i can buy a used engine for fairly cheap?

same thing happened to my friends 92 240sx, his rod came out the oil pan though. he just bought a motor from asap motors for a little over $1000 with shipping and insurance and stuff.

yea man i'd say you are better off buying a new motor, who knows what you could encounter when you open it up.

Try some local junkyards for a used engine. I found a ka24e for my 89 with only 35k miles on it for 750. Paid 250 for a friend to install it, and viola!

Try this site:

Used Engines

They seem pretty reasonable.
