I've had my new-to-me '02 Q45 with 83K miles for a little over a month. Had 80K when I got it. No mechanical problems whatsoever in the 3K miles I have put on her. I've had all the fluids changed and flushed, etc. Maintenance records came with the vehicle and look pretty clean, synthetic oil all the way.
Today I went to start the car and heard a fearful clattering sound. No check engine lights or anything, but something is definitely going on inside the engine compartment. I immediately shut the vehicle off.
My first thought was that the engine had thrown a rod. However, in years past my experiences with such an engine problem usually involve some more obvious problems other than the sound. Oil pouring out, etc.
At this moment my plan is to have the vehicle towed to the Nissan dealer tomorrow morning. I don't know what else to do.
Any ideas?

*** FOLLOW UP - After doing some reading and seeing some similar reports with late model Infinit V8's I restarted the vehicle and let it sit for about 5 minutes. The sound quieted until it wasn't anywhere near as loud as it was initially; however it's still very evident, like loud solid lifters.
