Does anyone know where to find throw out bearing pictures for an s13 93. I bought a clutch replacement package from some guy on E-bay, and the throw out bearing does not match. He's trying to say that it does and I'm just stupid. So I've got pics of the bearing he sent me but I need a pic of an oem bearing. I can't take a pic of the one on my car because i put the replacment in with the old bearing and I don't want to drop my transmission again just to take a friggin picture. I know there are pictures of this bearing on the web, I've seen them many times, but I don't remember where. Here are the pics of the bearing he sent me(just so you know I'm not on crack, it really is totally different):

I've always wondered this: What exactly is a throwout bearing?

It's what presses against the pressere plate's diaphram like springs to release the chutch's grip. This is why they are also known as release bearings. when you press the clutch pedel in, it moves the clutch fork forward torwards the pressure plate. But the pressure plate is spinning with the flywheel(it's bolted to it) and the clutch fork is not(it's clipped on the the stationary bell housing). so if the clutch fork were to directly press on the pressure plate there would be lots of grinding and snapping and brakeing of various mechanical objects. so what we need here is a bearing to apply liniar force to the pressure plate, but to also spin with it. this is the perpose for the throw out(release)bearing. Hope that helps.

OK, so has anyone got any ideas on where to find some pics? pleeeeaaasse. Cmon, you know you wanna help me out.:icesangel

why check pictures? why not cross reference the part number to see if it's the right bearing?

Because this guy is way to stupid for that. Just to give you a tast of what i'm dealing with here: He says the bearing he sent me is for the american engine, and that I switched my engine for the jap engine. Even though I told him I had the KA24DE, twice. I'm just going in circles with this guy.

just call your local parts supplier, not the stoopid guy....for the cross reference...

if it doesn't match to their part # for your application, then u got screwed.

That pressure plate looks nothing like the one thats in the KA, the disc looks right though. that pressure plate almost looks universal if thats even possible, shouldn't have that many mounting holes.

Nothing, I just bent the hose down towards the ground and cut it short so that it would not drag.

The old bearing has to be removed from the shaft that it's pressed onto. The new bearing then has to be pressed onto the old shaft and installed. I've attached a picture, it's a quicky made in photoshop so bear with it. Hope this helps!

I got a new TO bearing with the ACT clutch kit I bought and my TO/release bearing is exactly the same design as yours. Mine fits on the carrier and it is the same height and diameter as the oem one. I just don't know which way it mounts on the carrier? Can anyone let me know.

robbbby, the TO bearing with my ACT mounted with the little ridged side (2nd pic up top) riding against the fingers on the pressure plate. You can see where the old one is worn shiny if you still have it. make sure its really well seated on the carrier, its a huuuuge PITA to get the transmission back in and not have it fit.

Ya thanks, I figured it out after I actually took a good look at it to see which side spun after it was mounted.Only problem I have now is, I got it on the carrier all the way down but it isn't an extremely tight fit, like I can pull it off with my hands if I pull hard and twist it. I thought once it was on it should be well seated.

It should be, I had to hammer mine in - maybe its time for a new carrier too?
