Is there any guides that you guys know of to help install a throw out bearing? I know where it goes, but I dont want to mess anything up. I think its pressed onto the fork. Is there any tutorials on here? Or you guys can make a brief walkthrough of how to do it.

it pops right off the clutch fork, using a pivot ball and clip to hold it on. usually the t/o bearing will need to be pressed off the assembly though. once its out of the transmission, you can hammer the bearing portion out, then press the new bearing back in, but machine shops can do it quickly and without damage to the assy. look up a clutch install guide, and the t/o will be covered.

Most TO bearings are sealed units that pop on and off the input shaft. I have NEVER had to have anything pressed when I change one out.

Pull the transPull the clutch forkslide the TO bearing off the inputSlide the new TO onto the input shaft with the spinning portion facing the pressure plateReinstall transmission.

I looked at the clutch install tutorial here on NICO but it just says to take it off. I thought it just popped off but it seems to be pretty tight, and I dont have a puller or anything.

When I took off the assymbly from the TO when it was connected to the pitch fork I pushed the fork in from the outside as if the slave cyclinder were doing it, this of course was when the transmission was disconnected from the engine. Well when I did that it kind of loosened it and I had to use a slight amount of force to pull it out, don't be affraid to hear the snaping sound thats just the clip being released. And to press fit it, just put a piece of wood along the walls of a vice and tighten it and it should go in.

Alright guys I got the new TO bearing on. I did what duffman said. I pulled the whole assembly out and heard a snap sound (clips releasing). Then I put the new TO bearing on with a vise with a folded t-shirt to cushion the TO bearing. Its all back in now. I also have another question about clutch installation. Now I already have the flywheel on and torqued. I have the alignment tool in the clutch disc and I attempt to put it on the engine but the tool doesnt get snug on the pilot bearing. Is the tool supposed to get stuck in the pilot bearing so I dont have to hold it when I put the Pressure Plate on? Or do I have to hold the clutch?

Is this true?

I had that exact concern also but when I looked at it, you have to realize that for one, the hole in which the guide goes into is small in depth so whenI installed mine it was like your situation, just make sure to hold it as you put the clutch plate over it, I had one of my friends hold it while I went to get the clutch plate than when I was installing it I just carefully put it in without touching the guideand I torqued it down. when you tighten it all down it should be in there pretty solid. As for the TO, there's 2 sides one side has a fillet and the other is flat, press the fillet side into the shaft so when you install it the fillet side should face the inside of the transmission, not towards the engine side.

there is a place through work i can get oem parts from cheap that sells the collar itself for 20 bucks so all you have to do is press the new bearing on the new collar.

Just for future reference, i used a ball joint puller to get my TOB off, along with a few sockets and some goot utilisation of stuff i had laying around. i pressed it off with the puller and a few sockets, and put it on with some wood and a hammer. If you remember how your old bearing was on, then just put the new one on like the old one was and it should be fine. IIRC i put my flat side facing the trans, and the beveled side facing the pressure plate.

just make sure the side that spins it towards the pressure plate. I accidentally pressed mine on the wrong way.... then had to beat it off with a hammer.

I got the original throwout bearing off with a hammer and 3 days of soaking in PB blaster. I pressed the new one on with my drill press ....in about 10 seconds.
