I'm having a small problem here. I purchased a Centerforce dual friction clutch and had it installed. The clutch worked great for about 4000 miles. When the clutch was pushed in and it would make a noise like something was binding, like metal on metal. Well eventually the throw out bearing came apart. The thing was completely mangled.

I put a new t.o. bearing from O'rileys. That was last night. Its making a similar noise, just not as loud.

When I bought the clutch I was told by the machanic I ordered it from that I did not need to use the centerforce t.o. bearing. Is this true?? could this be the problem?? Any help would be great...

Throw out bearing is required for any clutch you put in, whats wrong with OEM TO bearings?

Of course a throw out bearing is required. I was wondering if there is a difference between oem and the centerforce unit and if that was why it failed..

In all my wisdom (which is quite limited) im semi-certain that the centerforce requires its own proprietary TOB.

use whatever nissan equivilent T/O bearing they recommend. I bought the clutch from them with the nissan T/O bearing and havent had a single problem. The bearing is alittle noisy but im sure thats just the nature of the stiffer pressure plate. Had the setup in my car for 6k miles, its been worked pretty good in that timespan. Only negatives Ive heard about the CF unit is the clutch discs lifespan. It can wear out at 30k depending on your driving habits...

but u gotta love how it grabs above 3k rpm ;P

dont know if this could help but im having a transmission issue. the clutch would make an aweful noise when i put the clutch in. the cause was a worn out pilot bushing that is found at the end of the crank where the manual trans spindle goes into. i havent gotten it back together yet due to me getting a new clutch and light weight flywheel but i think i will be fine after the install is complete.

does anyone know how much a to bearing is off hand>

I have a CF DF and just left the stock TO bearing in there. No strange noises or operation.
