driving around last night the clutch pedal jammed up... i pulled over and looked under the car and saw the throwout arm was twisted wierd, i figured the spring clips that hold it in place where original (90 240 w/154k on the clock) and worn, i figured they just fell off and i would have to replace them and the slave cylinder since it pushed the piston out to far and was now leaking badly...

upon closer inspection this afternoon however i noticed the ball pivot the throw out arm sits on inside the bell housing had broken in half... i have never heard of this, and was wondering if anyone else has?

if this is more common then i thought, does anyone know of a stronger alternative?-pete

Dont see it alot but has been known to happen. It is considered a rather weak part on the transmission. It's recommended to upgrade it when increasing power and changing to a more heavy duty clutch.

$25 will fetch you a beefed up one.

Good luck.
