Has anyone experienced a sticking throttle in the closed position. It happened about 3 times today when I pressed on the throttle pedal and nothing happened and then suddenly the throttle activated and lurched the car forward.

So your saying the accelerator pedal does'nt move when you try to push it?

No the pedal moves but it doesn't cause the car to move. Then if I press it further it suddenly seems to release and cause the car to jump forward

If the car moves slowly I think it could be the TPS AKA Throttle Position Sensor.

Check your throttle cable operation.
