What are the most important mods to get better throttle response/revving on the KA? I've noticed that revs take a long time to drop down compared to some other engines (i.e. during a shift). Here is what I would guess:1. Flywheel-save about 10 pounds with a fidanza 2. Pulley-save 6 or 7 pounds with an ASP or UR pulley3. Fan- ditch clutch fan, wire AC fan to be constant on

Can anyone comment on how the KA behaves with such mods? Any other suggestions?

I don't have a new flywheel yet, but I do have an ASP pulley and took my fan off. It's pretty noticable. The engine revs a lot easier with just those 2 mods.

also, try adjusting your throttle cable. get rid of the slack in it, so there is no dead space in the pedal

id say what you mentioned, the only other thing would be an aluminum driveshaft, that would help...

I hear advancing your timing will help with your throttle response but thats a whole different bag of tricks.

I'm talking more about just the time it takes for the engine speed to drop when you get off the throttle, etc. I assume that the main factor is rotating mass and the intertia therein. I will probably try the fan and pulley first, maybe light flywheel later.

flywheel wont change how freely the engine revs in neutral...

turle.... you pretty much have it all covered... only thing else you can do is lightened internals ... conrods, pistons, crank... but thats only if your obsessed

if you would like to improve on/off throttle response bringing the MAF closer to the throttle boddy helps plenty, this will make your pedal feel alot more responsive and touchy

Yes it will. Maybe you meant the driveshaft won't help in neutral?

Its kinda difficult to make the KA rev down and rev extremely fast like you see a bunch of other sportier cars around becuase of its 96 MM stroke, which, is quite long for a four banger lol.

I took out my clutch fan and i noticed a considerable difference when i downshift and pop the throttle.

take your foot off the throttle faster before shifting. actually i consider the KA to drop revs at a pretty reasonable pace. my dad's bmw 330i seems to keep the revs up for a second then drop but i think that has to do with the electronic throttle (which i do not like). also compared to my friend's 2001 prelude with some lightened pulleys the KA drops pretty good, i dont know why but hsi revs seem to not like to drop easily between shifts.

Also, better cams and lightweight valve train stuff will make it rev easier, like Exar-Kun's car http://www.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=82917

I put the fidanza on my car and it helped a little but I think actually the complete exhaust (header/cat/exh.) helped more. Doesn't your compression ratio have a lot to do with throttle response as well? Obviously this isn't the first thing you'd probly do. One thing, I don't know if yours is the same, but, my stock tach is kinda sluggish. It doesn't exactly always represent the rpm's of the engine accurately. Like when I rev it the tach takes longer to go back down than the engine seems to by sound.
