throttle problems

Car: 1991 Nissan 240sx

When i'm driving down the road my car goes fine but sometimes the engine starts to loose power and my car shakes and i have to pump the gas pedal. I don't know if it is because I donn't have a muffler. I would really appreciate if someone had some advice.

missing muffler wouldn't cause this my friend ran straight pipe for a wile.If pumping the gas pedal fixxes the problem check your throttle cable and possibly your fuel pump maybe
