Changed plugs last night & cleaned the TB.

I did it on my prior 04 M45 with no problems but I was much more careful to not get agressive with moving the butterfly valve at all. I must have moved it this time, ever so slightly.

This time, I put it all back together & got the P0507 code for the throttle. I'm looking over the threads and see the position re-learn procedure but few if any are for the Y34 and there's limited success reported.

If you've had to do it, were there any additional tips and what was the point at which you said the "hell with it" & let the dealer do it?

Thanks!

I am at the "Hell with it" stage right now with my 2006 M45. I was cleaning my K&N one sunny day and started poking around and cleaning other areas. One of those being the TB. I was so proud of myself until I started the car and noted that my idle was now at 1,200 RPM. This idle change also seems to impact the smoothness of downshifts as they have become more abrupt. I'm schedule time at the dealer this Friday.

So you tried the re-learn PROCESS and have, of course, double checked that all connections & hoses are re-installed, right?

I ask because that code does also imply a vacuum leak...

I had a loose air hose from the MAF to the throttle, and ran the re-learn procedure afterwards. As I recall, it seemed to improve things, although I do not remember if the idle was high or low after I fixed the hose.

The codes were pulled and I had three codes. One was the MAF, so I replaced it and disconnected the battery. Battery reconected and high idle is sill present. I tried the idle relearn step several times and that did not help either. I discovered the more expanded relearn process and tried several times, but was unsuccessful. I will recheck the hose connections, but other than the clamps on the TB and airbox, I did touch any other connections.

Where it says wait 7 seconds wait for 10 and it should work. I tried several times until I saw someone post about waiting 3 seconds longer and it worked every time.

So far, so good. It took a few times to go through the processs but I finally got the MIL to blink and I knew it was gonna work the third time. Took it for a drive & all seems good. Thanks for the advice!
