So I'm wanting to get the ECM re-program performed on my 02. I was just going to leave the gas pedal alone as I can easily get used to it but as I was reading the TSB I noticed that the only real difference is that the revised gas pedal doesn't have that dead zone. So what's stopping me from just removing the spring from the existing pedal and then securing the gas pedal up against the pedal rod? I can't see that it would be any different than replacing the pedal with the revised unit other than possibly being at a slightly different angle when it's not depressed.

Has anyone done this?

Depending on when your 02 was made and the version of TCM you have, it may require replacement instead of reprogramming. This is the case with my '02 made in May'01.

Let us know how it turns out.
