here are pics of the NTD throttle controller for the Versa, i picked it up from Bob over at Versaspeed about 2 weeks ago.... it works pretty well, and compared to the Blitz unit that Bob has, it is just as good, if not better because the NTD unit has multiple settings in Eco and in Sport.... enjoy!!!

Eco has settings 1-5 and sport has settings 1-7

overall throttle response is excellent, and i also like that you can get to the powerband quicker than stock... Eco mode works really great, i found that it puts me in check, i am the type of driver with a heavy foot, so this regulates that.... overall i would recommend this part....

the only reason you would have to plug into the OBDII port is for the power source... however there is a way to bypass it so you wouldnt have to plug into the OBDII port....

I am thinking of getting one of these and was curious of some things. can the modes be changed on the fly with no problems cause to the engine? has anyone ever had problems with these? I remembering reading something a while back about the check engine light coming on with these. any truth to this? thanks in advance

Yes you can change it on the fly when you are driving, no problems to the engine, its the same thing as if you were just driving normally and then floored it.

no one i know of has had problems with these. actually someones gf was backing up and had it on SP7 and she crashed... then again ive backed up with SP7 with no problems... i dont know why you would have to hit the gas that hard in reverse to begin with...

the person that had a CEL because he thought he would be smart and buy a one on ebay for $5-10 cheaper... little did he know it was a different gen model that threw CEL's. he was the only person that threw a CEL.

Thanks for the info. I will remember that with the reverse. lol. i want it more for the eco modes. especially now with gas prices. got a bit of a lead foot sometimes. but if i do get it then i will def be trying out sp7. i was looking at getting the ntd model and remembered seeing something bout the cel once. that must have been where it was from.

There's also the FLAT throttle controller. That's the one I got. It's made by the same people and is just a slightly improved tweaked version. No problems with it at all. Both modes work great!

Blue_street_racer:

Are there any differences between that and the NTD? I saw that on ebay for $20 less than versaspeed; but I feel like the $20 is worth knowing exactly what I'm getting...

NTD and FLAT are made by the same manufacturer. The FLAT just had 9 sensitivity modes for speed compared to the 7 on NTD, and 7 eco modes compared to the 5 on NTD.

the NTD controller is now flatter, its been updated. but no new pics. i discourage people from buying on ebay. some other guy did and bought an old gen and threw a cell. why not just go to versaspeed?

Tango, that is exactly my reasoning.

I bought it from versaspeed on sunday, so I hope it gets here soon; can't wait to put it in!

Hey folks, sorry to respond to myself here, but I just got mine from versaspeed this evening and installed it tonight. I'm a complete n00b around the pedals but I was shocked at how easy everything fits together. Just get a flashlight and all the connections to the gas pedal are cake.

Haven't started the engine yet but just wanted to make sure that I set everything up correctly. After completing the calibration/learning cycle, the display reads the level of throttle from 0 - 100, correct?

also, btw: it looks like Bob @versaspeed drop shipped the throttle controller from L.A. Since I'm in CA, that saved shipping time. So here's a big thumbs up to Bob :bigthumb:

Just heard on the radio today about what the crisis in Japan will do to the tech industry. It's going to be huge, and I have to be thankful I got this throttle controller while the parts were still available. Maybe I should join Nissan & give a bit of cash to the American Red Cross.

I am looking to get into doing some mods on my versa... and also a long road trip this summer. Any reliability issues with this thing? I'm not worried about doing the install, but my main wonder is does it improve your fuel economy in real world driving?

I just ordered the NTD from a fellow forum member. He said he ordered it from VersaSpeed. So is coming from a reliable source. Should be in on Monday. Can't wait till it comes in so I can try it out.

I haven't filled the tank yet since installing, but I've been driving around in Ec4 mode and it's fairly restrictive. Anything higher and I risk stalling my M/T from a standing start (I have a light foot as it is).

What I've noticed as that the economy modes help to take the lead out of your foot. You really have to punch it to get any throttle. It's helping me drive more slowly and less aggressively. The fact that it's taking the "edge" off of my driving habits tells me that I will get better fuel economy.

The speed modes are definitely fun, but don't expect any miracles.

It's cool to look down and see the % of throttle displayed.

Will report back after a few fill ups -- I need to get some consistent data before I can speak to fuel economy.

Update: 1st tank, mostly in ec4 mode, without trying to save gas, shifting around 4k rpm and a few stints in sp7 mode: 32.5 mpg.

2nd tank, almost all in ec4 mode, shifting at 3k rpm: 33.75 mpg

These results could be had without the throttle controller, but the controller in economy mode definitely helps keep the lead out of the foot.

Hey guys,I'm totally new to this stuff, and I was just wondering if someone could explain how these work a little bit? I'm working on improving my versa right now, and you guys sound like you're pretty into these things. Let me know? thanks!
