(I can't seem to upload photos to the forum from my phone, but I'll try to post some later). In any case, my question is exactly what I said: the spot across the top of the engine where the throttle cables go, has no cables. The spot in the firewall where the one cable is supposed to come out is just a rubber tube, probably the original insulation around the cable.

How does this work? The truck runs normally. I don't get it. I have the Chilton guide and there's no reference to this (at first I thought it might be some weird Platinum Edition thing, and maybe it is?) :wtf2:

The last Nissan cars with cables were in the '90's, certain trucks had them into the '00's. The VQ35 has had electric throttle since its inception in 2000.

Well, huh. My '01 had cables, and my '04 has the bracket for them, so it just looked...weird. thanks so much for clearing that up. :mike

01-02 have drive-by-cable

03-04 have drive-by-wire

Also, your 2004 “platinum” model is the exact same as the 2003 LE. So if you are ever looking for relevant info, just search 2003. Nothing special about the platinum.
