(I can't seem to upload photos to the forum from my phone, but I'll try to post some later). In any case, my question is exactly what I said: the spot across the top of the engine where the throttle cables go, has no cables. The spot in the firewall where the one cable is supposed to come out is just a rubber tube, probably the original insulation around the cable.
How does this work? The truck runs normally. I don't get it. I have the Chilton guide and there's no reference to this (at first I thought it might be some weird Platinum Edition thing, and maybe it is?)
