I was messing around in my engine bay, and I realized that I hadn't hooked up the throttle cable yet. Well, I pulled it over, and suprise, suprise, it's not long enough. This appears to be something that isn't mentioned on any of the SR sites. Do I need the cable from an S13a? I H8, yours is an 89 right, what did you do about the throttle cable?

TIA.

Mine has the SR cable and it is just strung across the top of the engine.

In the Sport Compact Car install they also stretched the throttle over the valve cover.

Hrm, WTF, why does mine seem so short? I guess I need to over there and play with it. If not, I'll hit the junkyard today.

can any throttle cable work? Above it was mentioned that the KA24 throttle cable works... any problems at all?

I was looking at the picture and wondering why the cable was coming over the top of the engine like that. Left hand drive forgot that one. How do you make that work anyway?

Nothing to it, just remember its not the length of the cable (as long as it is long enough to reach!), in the end it is how the cable is hooked up to the TB. Heres what the KA cable looks like when used on the SR.

Well, I went and played around with my cable today, and I got it to fit... it was sitting in a bracket that can be seen in the above picture. If you look at the bracket on the firewall in the middle of the coilpack cover, the bracket to the right holds the throttle cable in. I pulled it out of there and it fits perfectly. Sucks that it's going to be laying across my cylinder head, but oh well.

Why didn't you use the ka throttle cable? It is long enough and you don't have to have the cable going across the valve cover. You might have to make a custom bracket to use the ka. I have the ka cable in mine.

I am using the KA throttle cable, i think the KA24E cables are shorter than the DE's.

Ryan, what did you end up doing to fit your cable?

at first glance my cable looks plenty long enough to reach but when I hook it up to the bracket that holds the cable next to the TB the inside wire stops short of closing the TB all the way. I tried adjusting the cable but seems to not be long enough.

Just mess with it some more? Seems others have made the KA24DE cable to work with the s13 sr20det.

Just have it go over the back of the valve cover a little bit.

Yeah, have it go over the valve cover. Thats what mine does, but thats because the SOHC cables are shorter due to the intake plenum and throttle body being in roughly the same position as an S14/S15 plenum/TB. The DOHC KA's plenum/TB is in roughly the same spot as an S13 SR, so yours should fit. I don't know why it's not. Try laying it across the valve cover, and go from there.

The cable was only 1/4 inch short. I bent the bracket that holds the cable by the TB a little .. nad whatta ya know... it worked =)

and it doesnt bend over the valve cover, finally things are going my way =)

Hey, I know this is in the SR forums, but it pertains to this thread. Does anyone know of anyproblems like this when swapping to the CA? I've got the 12valve (lowport intake) and the CA is a lowport, but I wanted to know if anyone had heard of any problems with this. Thanks!

plenum/TB on the CA/KAE are in almost the same place. You shouldn't have any problems.

Thats what I thought, but I thought I'd make sure. I've got a KADE that I can pull the throttle cable off of if I needed it.

Mine is a 92 se and my cable runs near the heater hoses and through teh stock plastic bracket that is on the rear of the intake. Its fis perfect as if it was ment to go there. Cant even be seen from above just pops out behind the intake and up to the throttle
