I have a 93 car ... obviously it had DOHC throttle cable, some reason its not able to attach to the throttle body and hook into the bracket without keeping the throttle body bout 20% open. Is there a way to get more slack out of the end of the throttle cable??? or if not, do you have to use the bracket off of the KA since it looks like it would place the cable lower? and if so .. do you have to drill one of the hole son the KA bracket a little larger to fit on the SR manifold?

Once i get this solved I can try to take the car around the block so I'm kinda anxious for an answer. Thanks guys

Bryson,

You can use SOHC cable. I cheaped out and cut the sleeve of my DOHC cable to fit the stock SR bracket.

I don't have nor want to use a SOHC cable I know you can use those bu they go over the head of the engine. I have a DOHC cable thats not the problem.

you have to cut the sleave like the previous poster said, or change the braket on the sr, I custom made my own bracket and used the DE cable.

ahh my last post sounded rather hostile ehh??? I didn't intend it to be like that... I don't quite understand what you mean by cutting the sleeve. Are you talking about the plastic boulge before the end of the throttle cable where the screws begin? Or.... are you talking about the piece of rubber in the SR bracket?I was looking at the KA bracket, and it looks like if I enlarged one of the two mounting holes for the bracket I could use the KA bracket which would lower it enough to work from the looks.

yeah you got it the sleave is the plastic at the end of the metal screw part, I wasnt comfortable doing that. Yesterday there was still a thread on the main page about the throttle bracket by using the de one you might wana check it out.

This morning I messed with it and what I ended up doing was taking the KA bracket and using only the bottom bolt to attach it.. the cable is straight and is working fine so it'll work for now. I totally FUBAR'd my SR bracket. so it will either have to work with my KA one the way I have it or I'll be making a custom one too. Thanks for the replies guys

I just cut the sleeve right after the metal clamp around the rubber black part. it works just fine. the only tension you need the worry about is accelerating but i use the bolt closest to the engine bay to keep the cable from moving.

I used the KA bracket and with a little bit of playing it worked just fine. I tapped on it with hammer to insure that it was secure and wasn't going to move on me.

Just get some pliers on the bracket and bend it back towards the firewall. Works fine.
