My throttle cable has been loose for a while, just figured out the rubber bushing that holds the gas pedal to the throttle cable is torn.

Do I need a new gas pedal assembly? Or is there a part I can buy?

Fixed it, just put some cardboard wrapped in electrical tape and taped it to the pedal's stopper. Now the throttle is immediate.

you could have just used some rubber hose, cut a small sheet out of it, cut a strip so it will slip around the cable and fitted it. sticky tape will eventually leak gunk into the cable and jam it as the adhesive flows with heat.

Im more partial to going to the hardware store and getting nylon spacers from the hardware aisle. they just slip over the cable and then a ziptie or two hold the in place. They wont leave goo like your tape will, or compress like some rubber hoses will.

Pretty sure you could just adjust the slack out at the engine end.

To clarify, I put the cardboard on the black plastic piece that holds the pedal in place. Not the cable itself. This made the pedal's default position snug with the broken bushing.
