I'm currently in the middle of redoing my vacuum lines on my 86 nissan hardbody nap z2.4I (throttle body injection). Since I found out a couple days ago that before I got it this truck it has had atleast 1 engine (possibly 2) changes & it has seen atleast 3 shotty mechanics. I've got a vacuum diagram that I found on the net but it confuses me because right @ the throttle body are vaccum ports for hoses (in diagram) but I can only find 1 port on throttle body & its @ bottom on the rear left. I've so far got the diagram right from canister (cap top vacuum hose) to TVV then it splits off from there but still I don't see where all the vacuum hoses go to the throttle body....many thanks in advance!

You may want to call some local junkyards, find a engine like yours and go look at it. I had to do that for an old mazda once. Take pencil and paper or better a digital camera

I thought about that but if it's like usual when the junk yards get what ever vehicle it is they go ahead & strip out engine & trans. I will make an attempt to see but I'm feelin like its gonna be a no show for info. I applied some pretty good vacuum info from a guy on another forum but things under that hood aint right from past mechanics workin on it. I did the best I could & it runs but it's weak, I tried getn codes from it but computer isn't going through the modes to get to mode 3, it just starts spittin off codes as follows, 23,24,23,24,23...etc etc etc. I'm gonna check the timing with a friend & see whats up with that, I've done plugs & next week it's gona be wires, cap, rotor. I'll see if the basic tuneup goodies will solve this problem since trying to fix the vacuum didn't do the trick.

Can you post a pic? There are quite a few vac lines running around the TB. You also have coolant lines that feed the wax element that holds the fast idle cam.

I hope I'm posting this correctly, I hope these pics are the right size & in order as the titles I've listed.

Keep in mind that my TVV is a 3 port.

this is the vacuum port on the back left of the throttle body

I hooked the vacuum hose coming from that port on the throttle body to the bottom port on the TVV because I didn't know where else to put it
Image

this is a little brass or copper looking vacuum tree that I just put a hose on 1 of the 2 ports & capped off the other port. (you can even see the top port on the TVV where the air cleaner vacuum hooks to)

I just had someone explain to me the proper way to retrieve codes from computer, I've done that & it comes up 44. I'm assuming that I did everything right but its running weak still. I'll keep pluggin away @ it when I do the plug wires, cap & rotor stuff & see what happens then.

It is a bit hard to see your pics. They came out small and a bit fuzzy. I'll get some similar pics a bit later today.

The tube "tree" on your aircleaner is a manifold to connect specific vacuum lines together. No problem bypassing them as long as the right lines are connected together.

I connected my AIV control to the capped port on the tree just so its hooked up even tho I didn't see any change with it hooked up or not (just hooked it up so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb). Sorry about the pics, my cam on my phone was never that great anyway. I plan to buy a cam but never seem to have extra cash to get a decent 1 with :( .
