I just discovered after observing my mechanic how to open up the throttle body flaps so that you can clean the inside for G-35 6 MT as you replace the after market air filters.

1. Put the car keys in the ignition, and leave it at the "ON" level without starting the car.

2. Put your parking brakes on.

3. Put the car in gear--any gear.

4. Step on the throttle or accelerator, and the flaps will automatically open by themselves and you will be able to see the darkness inside the chamber.

5. When you are done cleaning, do the same steps or just step on the accelerator pedals so that the flaps can go back to their original closed position.

6. Then you will have to conduct an engine relearn sequence, which I have little knowledge about. StevetheTech will chime in and give you the full details of that sequence and how it is also done. if you can't do the sequence yourself, take it to an infiniti dealer so that they can do it for you.

Furthermore, you can remove your plenum and clean the full intake, just be careful not to leave any contaminants or debris behind, choose a stong cloth that won't deteriorate inside the manifold, I think a carb cleaner would be safe to use I've heard it can be good to do, Steve, got anything to add

I have a guy who is going to polish my lower and middle plenum (mrevv) so that they can deliver more air smothly into the engines. I heard polishing and lower plenum and middle plenum alone can increase horspower by up to 5%. The problem is that doing so can cost a whole lot of money. Someone wants to do this for me for about $350. I am planning on giving them my OEM middle plenum which is sitting down at home in the garage and let them polish it for about 1 month and lets see where that leads. he even suggested he can polish the inside of headers if i want than as well.

Well if you install that then I will buy the Mrev from you! I will wait for the results and then you can choose which on you keep!

$350 sounds reasonable to me, I would love to do it, but also powder coat or chrome plate the manifold, it looks sexy

I would be interested in see some dyno #s for the polish job on the VQ platform, to go even further you could do a 4 angle valve job too.... Now we're talkin!

Jacko,

Thanks for the info on the throttle.

The throttle release learning and volume procedures are in the articles section. So is the ECU reset procedure. All 3 are in the same article.

I wouldn't pay $350 for your old lower plenum to be polished. The information I've gathered so far is that you need the mrev2 in order to get the gains out of the Rev-up engine. Polishing your old plenum and installing it in place of the mrev2 is counter-productive.

I am working on converting an automatic lower collector into an mrev2, then polishing it. I got about 10% of it done yesterday.

The mrev2 should already be pretty smooth btw. I also highly doubt you'll get 15 hp from a smoother intake.

Nate:

Nice info. I guess I am done with the polishing deal. So, all i have now is either to buy a Strup Header and install or get a UTec Engine Management System and tune my car for more power. We shall see what next year brings.

Go for the headers and the UTEC + tune

that would make a pretty big difference

i bet you'd get close to 20 hp to the wheels

My little RYLEE is doing so good!

We brought her home last week and she has been gaining weight really good. She is pretty much confined to stay inside the home through RSV season, but things are great. I love coming home from work and holding her.
