If the throttle sticks when you go to press the pedal and it "pops" loose and moves freely then it is your throttle body. If the pedal binds under any other condition then it is in the cable or linkage. You dont need to completely remove the throttle body to clean it. All you need is to remove the inltake duct going to the throttle body. After that somply open the throttle plate by hand and spray everything down with some throttle body cleaner. You can get some at any local parts store. After spraying the throttle plate take an old toothbrush and scrub all of the carbon off of the throttle plate and the throttle body housing. Once you have brushed all of the carbon off spray more cleaner on it to ensure that everything is clean and wipe the excess out with a rag. Reattach the intake duct and start the engine. When you go to crank the car it will most likely be difficult to get started so you will probably need to press the gas pedal while cranking. After the engine starts it will probably miss for a few seconds and smoke a little. Rev the engine a little to clear the cleaner out until it stops smoking and missing. Take the car out and drive it a bit to ensure that you have cleared all of the cleaner out and thats it. Throttle body cleaning is a service that needs to be done on a regular basis. Carbon buildup in the throttle body not only causes a sticky pedal, but also a rough idle, stalling, and sometimes a bit of hesitation. HTHPhil
