Are ka24e and ka24de throttle bodies the same size?

I see lots of you guys using both, not sure if one was more desirable.

Same size, it's just that the DE has the coolant ports on the wrong side.

Ok, so then using the E throttle body, and the throttle pulley, can cruise control still work with a CA swap?

Speaking of which.........how does the ca-det do with the coolant lines bypassing the tb? I had my ka-de tb bypassed on my ca18et with no probs.......but I tried bypassing it on my vq30 maxima, and it would never come out of cold idle. I haven't put the ka tb on yet because of this. I'll have to bypass it because I broke one of the coolant ports.......so I was just curious if there would be any issues doing so...or if it would be better to just get a new tb and plumb it up.

You'll still have to be creative with the cruise control. The problem is the bracket on the manifold. You'll have to build something yourself.

AFAIK, none of use have ever had any issues bypassing the coolant lines on the TB. I live in a relatively cold climate and haven't ever had any problems with it.

Ahh, good to know......thanks. I guess that shows how much more the ecu controls everything in the newer cars......because it was in the 90's when I did that on my Maxima....and even after a 4 hr road trip, it would still be in fast idle

I think single cam throttle bodies have the coolant ports on the wrong side too. the pulley is on opposite sides on the CA/ KAE, so you have to flip the throttle body, putting the coolant ports on top.

KAE pulley is inside, CA is outside. Thought I had pics in the photobucket acct, but I dont

I've got the right TB listed in the FAQ. I cant' ever remember which one it is, but I know if you use the wrong one, the coolant ports end up on the top of the TB.

its somewhat larger. itll give you a couple of ponies i believe, and it helps when going for higher power levels.

Higher peak HP and maybe TQ, also improves throttle response.

Dumb question, but are you guys gasket matching the plenum to match the larger ka throttle body bore? I think it would be a pretty useless swap otherwise.

i can only hope so. that or use a gasket from the larger TB, as that should already be the right size.

I use the KA TB gasket AND I port the plenum out to match.
