This is my experience for the last three days. I have never driven a Q45 to this extent before, and I must say that it has been very rewarding. For those that don't know, my dad and I are restoring a first gen, Ivory Pearl Quartz Q45 that belonged to another NICO member, longrunQ. He had the misfortune of the engine succumbing to the timing chain guides.

I had the car to 105mph Tuesday and didn't really realize it. The VH45DE really shows it's strength on the high end versus a strong V6 at lower speeds. My daily driver is an '04 Cadillac CTS, and the Q would walk it on the highway with no doubt.

Tonight I take it back to my dad's and pick up the Caddy. I like the CTS certainly, but those that say there is just something about a first gen Q are absolutely right.

Thanks for listening!

NICE WRITE-UP REPO! I FEEL THE SAME WAY, IMPOSSIBLE TO DESCRIBE THE FEELING OF A FIRST GEN Q, YOU JUST HAVE TO EXPERIENCE IT. I'VE WON OVER MANY CONVERTS. STARTS IN THE SEAT OF THEIR PANTS THEN WORKS IT'S WAY NORTH!!! LOLJEFF

After I hearing how great the first Gen Q is, it makes me want to get one, but after hearing how great the new M45 is, I want one of those too. Same goes for the FX45. And still have to get me that Aston Martin Vanguish V12. What is a guy to do?

Stay away from all Fraud products. Other choices are wise one.

DJ .....

Not a slam but are you older than 30 ?

The Gen 1 Q's are a nostalgic car for us over 30 dudes. If you had seen what the other choices for cars was back in 90-93, you'd appreciate the looks, styling and what this car had / has / is

It is to the lux sport sedan class in 1990 what Led Zeppelin was to rock and roll in 1964-70's. What a car ... what a rock and roll band - still great to this day - both ...... timeless.

The new Q45 and M45's are very sweet. But on the other hand almost too sterile for me. Kinda too refined..... feel far removed from the road if you will - and it takes near a damn Cray Supercomputer to work on these things now.

Id do a M45 dealio in a heartbeat tho - if i wasnt already needing to rid myself of 2 mustangs, an Excursion, and have 91 Q45a in the works .....

There's always next year :-)

25.... I do remember the Q's when they first droppped...I thought they were kinda fugly then too :)

I like the interiors....I love the performance...it's just that exterior. I suppose a nicely done up version would look good though.

What's weird though, is that I think the G20 has always been a good looking car.

When it came out the 1990Q45 was the best sdean to be had anywhere at any price (except maybe the Bentley Turbo R and thats a maybe).

Thanks Nic! Haven't talked to you in a while. How are you?

The older Q's look a lot better with an updated set of wheels and tires. Ours is currently sporting a set of Konig Tantrum's sized 17x8 with 245 45 series rubber all the way around. This isn't my first choice, but they're what I had sitting around.

Not everyone will like the Q. My wife thinks they're old man cars, but she doesn't have the appreciation for what it is, and that's ok.

I am again torn between another 240 and a Q... :help

Hey Andy, I’m alright... things have been pretty boring lately. But it sounds like you have been staying busy with the Q. I have the snow tires on the 240 now and I’m thinking about undercoating her before they start salting up the roads this season. Finals are coming up in a little over a week at school and I can’t wait for winter break! A solid month of no school and a few weeks off of work sounds great right about now...

Now as far as what you should do, being torn between another 240 and a Q... (hey I just rhymed) lol, hmmm that’s a tough one man. Did you end up selling your brother your S13? You know that I am going to be bias and say you should grab an s14 ;) but it all depends on what you want from the car. I say get a 240, and keep things rounded out and even in the Nissan family that you seem to be building. That or you can always steal your brothers 240 from him when you get the urge to drive one. :D Hope that helps...

Yes, I did sell him the s13. He is ecstatic to be driving it and it suits his needs perfectly. That's satisfying for me. I would like an s14 and have considered Chris' (saw it on cars.com). I am going to try and link up with Driftmaster Bill, aka The "B" Ride, and look at his turbo'd s13 notchback tonight.

I guess I have been an advocate for the proliferation of the Nissan/Infiniti family, haven't I? Hehe.

Have fun with your time off. You deserve it! And get the 240 undercoated, you won't regret it.

cept for the welded diff and that front bumper I like the car. I'd probably fix both those. Definitely the diff if you plan on driving it in town at all.
