so I buy this cable, your software. hook up my laptop and BAM.. everything is there?? .. Will this work on my 99q ? You have a sale if it does..

1996 began the new OBD2 system. Many Nissan had both type interfaces until 1999 to allow Consult one to function [somewhat] until the newer Consult II was available.

Kind of hit and mis across models.

Normally one would use a ODB2 scanner/software to gain depth in codes.

Having both is often a good idea when dealing with 96-99.

The Generic OBDII will work with 99 if it is OBD II compatible. I do not think the enhance will work. If OBDII port pin 12, 13 to ecm exist then enhance powertrain probably will not work. I believe some models are using pin 12, 13 for C2 diagnostic but then switched over to K-line (pin 7) on the later models. My software supports K-line Diagnostic only.

Sorry to bring up a dead thread but:

I bought a consult cable from E-mance and he says he is the owner of this software. Now either this guy is sell scan techs software as his or they work together.

Also are there going to be any updates to the software or is it dead?

And when we do power balance test with the software how do we find out the lowest RPM drop per each cylinder?

I'm not sure on the software ownership...

As far as the power balance, the software does a lot of stuff to average the RPM drop, and has to try to keep the IAC valve and ECU from compensating when it cuts the cylinder. Honestly, I don't think he ever got it to the point that it gives as reliable results as a real Consult.

Even the Consult will give different results on different trials due to rounding errors. My understanding is that Nissan designed the power balance test to find dead cylinders, so in many cases we're using it as a fine tuning diagnostic tool (to look for dirty injectors for instance) when it was really designed just as a "good or bad" type of test.

Just ot let everone know the software is dead and there will be no more updates for this software.

The owner is not affilated with E-mance in any way.

All the above information is true I have all the emails from Isaac for further proof if needed.

I haven't used the power balance in Scantech but I have used the feature in Nissan Data Scan to shut down one cylinder at a time to find a dead one and it's pretty handy.

Good news Everone, I convinced the author to rewrite the program to let us see the Min and Max RPM or other gauge side by side the active test.

So we can shut off a cylinder and see what the lowest point the RPM's dropped too.

All we have to do is a little math to see which ones are bad.

Thats how you can tell if the cylinder is bad right?

Yet another update:

This time you can have up to 20 active registers (Which is the MAX that the Q45 ECU supports).

The timing can be corected to read 15* BTDC*

*To correct timing just go to the main screen->select "Arrange Registers" and select "Timing" on the very top-> Set it to 80-> Click save-> Click close and your done.

And I also convinced Isaac (the King of the laptop Consult) to add AAC duty cycle in percentage. So with that added we will know when its time to clean the intake again.

Currently ODB Scantech is undergoing re-development. It's a partnership between Isaac and me.

It would be great if you could put together some improvements you would like to have in the next few versions.

Sounds like my prayers have been answered.

I want to be able to see the AAC/IACV duty cycle, more accurate power balance tests, and Active suspension and Auto Driver Postitioner testing.

I am sure many people have other requests too.

AAC/IACV Duty Cycle is present in the latest version from what I saw.

Is the Power Balance test not accurate enough or are the results undecipherable/understandable?

I'll revert to him on Active Suspension and Auto Driver Positioner Testing.

Would be great if I could use you guys to do some navigation testing. That way I can have feedback on how everyone, who uses the software, thinks the menus are arranged

The AAC/IACV duty cycle is different from the opening percentage.

The power balance test does'nt really do all the math which leaves the end user figuring out some numbers. It would be nice to have numbers like this:
