Im thinking of painting the calipers on my gold '01 qx4 yellow- any thoughts? Im not sure if it'll be weird, being that there are obviously no calipers to paint in the rear, with the drum brakes. What do you guys think? Has anyone done this? id love to see some pics if you have.

Gold and yellow don't mix well. they may look similar on here, but in real life, the yellow calipers aren't going to look good at all.

Sure, yellow calipers look great on yellow Porsches and Black Carrera GTs, but not on a Gold Q. If there are the stock, wimpy looking calipers, then your best color choices are black, silver, and maybe red or blue.

Also, there is no need to paint the entire caliper. Just paint the side that is visible through the wheel and may half of the body of the caliper. No one is going to see the backside of the caliper, so there is no reason to paint it.

Aso, make sure to only paint the metal caliper. Do not paint the pad.

interesting... so you don't think gold and yellow? I definitely don't think blue would look right, and i wanted something that would stand out more than a black or silver. Red is a definite possibility, but I thought yellow would go nicely with the gold. I'll do some photoshopping think about it some more

Colours get dirty, FAST, and aside from just repainting them everytime, are not easy to make look good again.

Id stick with black personally, Ive done red and gold before, hated the upkeep on both, went to black

My Q is gold, and I'd shy away from yellow personally. I'd think, aside from black, a dark blue or red. I think you'd be happier with a darker color to contrast the gold. Also won't be as much of an issue with dirt build up.

Do have stock wheels?

yeah, stock wheels... after photoshopping a pic of the car, and looking at different colors, I definitely have to agree- the yellow was not great. I've decided on red, which seemed to look real nice, and stand out well also

+1 for black. Considering doing mine when I paint the drums this spring.

The rusty drums look god awful with my summer rims on.
