Hey guys I've been lurking on these forums for about 3/4 years now (sad right) being 17, I finally have some cash for a project car my 97 Lumina isnt what I'd call fresh but it works for now. I've been looking everywhere for a S13 hatch or a S14 zenki just so many problems with the ones I've checked out, I'm picky I guess.

Any Ideas on how where I should be looking? :gotme

Craigslist is the best bet. You have to remember that you are buying a car that is anywhere from 14-21 years old so the odds of finding one that is in perfect running order is gonna be rare. Especially since people like to do so many things to them. Half the fun of buying a 240 is working on it.

I checked all the cities craigslists that were close to me for about 6 months before i found mine 5 hours away. gl

Oh I know I'm just not a fan of body work but a blown engine or trans is fine, theres nothing from stopping me from working on car, you gotta love it!

Yeah most my semi-luck has been from craigslist and autotrader.

And thanks seems like I might have to do the same as you

Just like said before, Craigslist, Autotrader, Classifieds are all your best bet. Patience is a must of you're looking for something clean. You might have to be willing to travel as well. Automatics are usually cleaner as well, if you don't mind going that route.

Honestly bro if you are running around with $1500 then you get a $1500 car which will be problem riddled!! 240s are so much fun to tinker with if you get a decent platform to start with. There are so many clean one on this site alone but your budget will dictate what you get. GL!

The trick is save and wait for the deal, dont jump on one, try to find something clean from an older person.

I'm 17 as well and my advice as far as 240s go is to buy something stock. Period.

All of these cars that have been modified have been beat on. They're cheap, parts are cheap, and people think they can drift.

Mine happened to be VERY clean, but it saw its share of abuse like any other one. I realized though that the "scene" just wasn't for me and there were plenty of better cars for the money. I bought my BMW for $600 more than I sold my 240. And it had a KA24E. :D It has way less miles and will stomp on SRs all day long.

Yea take your time I rushed into my 240 and it ended up having a warped head that the previous owner forgot to mention.

:bs: Sure, keep telling yourself that. Just like that Honda kid who told me stories of smoking SRs all day long, then he ended up running 16s at the track. :lolling:

Look up the specs on my engine. It's an M60 if you don't know. Same as the 840ci.

While it's not going to beat a "built" SR like yours from a dig, that's wasn't what I was implying. Highway though, that could be a different story.

And for the record, street racing is dumb and useless. And I don't plan on taking my car to the track. It's a family sedan for crying out loud. If I wanted a track car, I'd have an M3.

Back on topic.

OP, don't look on Autotrader. Any kind of 240sx is going to be WAY too overpriced. The best luck you will have is craigslist not too long after its posted. Many clean ones will get snatched up in days if the price is right.

So be sure to keep looking frequently. :dblthumb:

Okay, my mistake. I was under the impression you were claiming to stomp on SRs with a stock KA24E. :gotme

Just because I can doesn't mean I do....often. I'm not gonna tear up my car to piss off 240sx owners, lol.

I baby this thing. That's one thing I miss about my S13. I could beat on it and not care, because parts were so cheap and they're easy as cake to work on.

Beware of rust. These metal on these cars is very thin and is very prone to rust in climates like yours.

I'd almost suggest driving out to a more dry climate like here.

Yeah that's my biggest battle out here (rust) but I might have found some luck, 1990 automatic(eh..) hatch bone stock, guy is asking 1500 obo I'll try getting out to take a look soon its like a 45min away so I hope its worth it.

And if anybody knows of a rear-ended 1999+ F-body or Vette It's another thing on my list :ohno:

all someone has to do is turn the boost up and wave goodbye to your land boat.
