http://www.autotrader.com/deal...49141 seems like a good buy. I currently own a '91 Q T with 146k miles on it and love it. Anything specific I should know about this model trouble/maintenance wise? I haven't been able to find that much info around here (and couldn't find a search function).

Any help is appreciated.

Beaverton doesn't do good deals as a rule. When my wife and I test drove a car there, the salesman regaled us with a story of how he jacked the price up on a new F50 and swindled and elderly gentleman on the FY33 he traded for it.

Search is upper right in the blue bar below NICO logo.

Erik is a first class Infniti technician, though.

The rims on that F50 are gross.

Yeah, that would be an easy $1500 off for me.

I agree...

It's interesting to note what some people find as attractive and others find totally disgusting when it comes to wheels.

As for me, there are very, very, very few chrome wheels that do it for me...

I say that's a very good price as long as there's nothing wrong. Verify the history of the car and have someone inspect it if you can. I know it is hard since this is at a dealership. Make sure the car doesn't have any burning oil history.

Regarding to dealerships ripping people off, that happens to almost all dealerships. We just have to learn to protect ourselves and know our options. Give them an offer. You won't have anything to loose.

Thanks for the comment.

I too don't like the rims, so I figured that would be an easy way to get a grand off.

And of course a dealer is going to try to make some (or a lot if they can) money. I ran a carfax on it, and it is clean. Based on other prices it seems quite fair -- not a "I must drive down there right now!" amazing deal, but a good one. My concern with it being from Infiniti at Beaverton is that is the only infiniti dealership for like... 80 miles, I think, so I would need a third party mechanic to check it out. I will do some research on Portland area mechanics, unless someone knows someone down there that is good.

Used cars often have several thousand dollars of profit built into the price. Dealerships know that customers have no easy way of finding out what they paid for the car (unlike with new cars where invoices are readily available online), so they try to take advantage of the lack of consumer information. Keep that in mind when making an offer on the car. I'd offer $20k even as a starting offer.

There is no better Infiniti Technician in OR (maybe the whole PNW) than Eric.

Have him go over it and then after you deal with service guys, speak to him. He usually works in the far bay so you can saunter by on your way out or think of a question only he can answer. He is a Senior Technician (trained in 1989 on the G50) and he maintains a 1994 G50 for his dad.

Beaverton should know its service history unless it was acquired at auction.

....

Get a 2003 if you can...

I was considering a 2002, until I read about the improvements to the 2003. You won't regret the purchase!

If a car is advertised on the internet, there is a good chance the price has already been lower and there may not be much bargaining room. You will find out what they want at first on the sticker. At that price, I think it is a steal and most likely it is gone. Go check it out and let us know.

But if you can get it for less, that's aweful and you can get some nice new wheels.

By the way, don't just check on the carfax history. You got to check on the car maintainance history at Infiniti dealerhship. With the VIN, you may be able to pull that up and show you if the car has any major problem such as transmission or engine buring 1 qt/week issue.
