Wow. Never would have thought an old celica could look so much like a foxbody. There is something kinda pimp about it...in a foxbody kind of way.

I used to have an 83 Celica GT-S. Apparently an extremely rare model in 83 as IRS was released in very limited numbers then. 84 is the first year it was officially released. The seats in my Celica were the most comfortable seats I've ever had. I've heard they were designed by Recaro. I think the only real complaint I had was that the transmission and diff were not very strong. I broke gears in each once. The Supra version is probably a bit more durable and other than the motor, maybe some suspension tweaks and the front end were essentially the same car.

I did ask for peoples thoughts, I don't care for the lower section of the body kit myself. I was in the prime of my "car wanting" life (16-18) when this car was in it's prime. It will always be special to me. I never cared for the Supras of the time (hatch only), but IIRC they offered an inline 6 turbo, that I always thought would fit right in that GTS.

1der, I can't find the ad again, but he swapped the motor for one of the gtz jtz jze whatever letters those guys use??

Noble M12. Depending on model/year, it's powered by a 2.6 or 3 liter TT V6...in the back.

Oh, and Rex--the engine code was probably a 1(or 2)jzgtte. Again, a 2.5 or 3 liter TT 6, except these are inline.

Yep, my friend recently acquired a FREE 84' Celica GT-S (5 spd.) w/ the 22RE in it. Granted it has 293k miles on it, but still an awesome car. It has very minor body rust, and he's getting it painted black in the next 2 weeks. And for being a 20 year old car, the seats are actually quite alright.

Pretty sharp looking celica. Not big on the wing, but looks in nice shape. How much were they asking for it?

IIRC, he linked his ad to and ad in the BST section (can't find :(), but he was asking close to $9k as he had swapped in a newer "Supra" engine and some other stuff. Too much for a 20 yr old car IMHO.

Nice looking car. I had a 85 Celica GT in when I started college it was a great car. It handled really well, had 235/60R14 on all 4 corners. I always thought that it needed more power to be really fun, I just didn't have the money to do upgrades.
