WEll since ive been driving my car quite a bit as of late, i thought id share some MPG results..

Right now my car reads 121,2xx... Bought the car with 110,400 miles on it, a year and 2 days ago, if memory serves...

So heres some numbers for everyone to chew on...

This is over a course of 2076 recorded miles. I know ive put on more than that but i must not have recorded the rest, i know one time the receipt thing at the gas pump was messed up... Oh well!!

Miles= 2076miGallons= 109.41raw MPG 18.9

MPG numbers19.519.7521.120.6(21.2)(16.5)

- average MPG based on rounded numbers- 19.8

Adjusted average MPG (drop highest and lowest value)- 20.2

So basically, over the course of almost 2100 miles, im averaging 20MPG.. Pretty good, i feel that im leaving quite a bit.. Let me tell you that 1500 miles of that was averaged at 76MPH...... You *know* what that means! I drive faster on the freeway than I should, most the time around 80..... but lately its been closer to 90...

That is also with the AC on, and at least one redline per extended startup (IE long enough for the car to warm up fully)..

Not bad, but I think that if I stayed around 70 I could get 21-22MPG over the same course of miles, but its not worth the 1-2 MPG

Happy Qing folks!

Sounds pretty close to what I'm getting with my '93. Same driving habits - a bit too fast, and at least a couple jaunts to WOT.

LOL, if that's true then you must have changed your driving habits. I was behind you awhile back(your old Q) and you were holding up a line of cars at ~75~80mph. .

ANyways, seems like you fit right in with everyone else MPG average

Nice numbers! After rewiring the MAF I'm up to 20mpg these days at 70mph. Drops rapidly down to 12mpg when Im doing 120.

80-90 mph is something I do on a day-to-day basis.I think the car is made for that.I feel like I'm cheating my car if I'm going only 60mph.Besides,the car runs so smooth and great at that speed and theres plenty of power past that.

I get 12-14 mpg around town, 20 on fwy @ 85 mph with air on. Despite L.A.'s reputation for massive traffic (which it does of course have) people drive fast, the left lane flow is at least 80, you can drive 85 all day long and no worries about the PoPo pulling you over. I've been passed by cops while I was going 80+ mph. I redline my car almost every time I drive it at least once, I basically floor it every time the light turns green. To quote Harvey Kietel in Pulp Fiction: "I drive real f@cken fast, so keep up."

Great drivers in Cali. When I was there traffic moved fast and smooth. The way it should be. Unlike these farmers in Wisconsin.

I drive between 76 and 140 each day. Mostly, near 76. It is noce to "blow" away the occasional traffic grouping. I have been getting between 20 an 22 MPG with the A/C on.

On a side note, I found a Chevron station with super $.30 per gallon less than the Citgo right next to it! $2.699 per gallon for super! Too bad it was a $50 maximum purchase and it was 80 miles from home.

Never thought I would say "wow" and be envious of $2.69... this is a messed up fuel market right now...

Do you mean that the pump shut off at $50.00? When that happens to me I just reinsert the credit card and finish filling up. This has only happened a couple of times and I was driving my Suburban. It holds 42 gallons.

You lucky dogs - I only get 15.5-16 mostly hwy. Not a whole lot of traffic w/my A. My old 92 would typically get 18.5 same commute and do upwards of 22-23 when road tripping. No idea what the wifes 96 gets as she never resets the trip odo when refilling.

ggod to have another active data point. I only get 14ish, mostly city.

i'm sure it could use O2s...one of the few jobs that intimidates me on this car.

Is replaceing 02s really that bad? Seems like you've done some pretty complex stuff already - didn't you pull your plenum?

Glad to hear another active getting less than stellar MPG - don't feel so bad now!

Get an o2 sensor wrench and crows foot wrench. You just need a 7/8 crows foot, but i got a whole set at menards or something like that for like $10..

You use a series of extensions on the drivers side, and the crows foot on the bottom... Kind of a pita but not real bad, i did mine about1 hour

Then again, it's entirely possibly Wes could do an entire engine\transmission swap in an hour, so I'm not sure if this is a safe reference. <grin>

yeah right i work hella slow... Im just getting to the point where I can get within about 30 mins of book time..... That of course doesnt include drink breaks and time to space out, and beating on other parts of the engine just for fun...
