I have used my vehicle to climb a few curbs here and there. Occasionally avoided a few wandering nomadic runners and walkers, dodge a herd of shopping carts at the local super market, avoid a flock of birds, and swerved around solitary traveling dogs. Overall my Nissan Rogue has been fun around the urban jungle and has pleased me greatly! :naughty: :runover:

Nice. It's amazing how much more rugged and less "cute" Rogues look with step/nerf bars. Should definitely be a factory option.

Do you mind saying how much the step bars cost and where you got them...before and with installation? I'd love to get some if the price (and installation hassle) isn't too high.

I bought a high quality stainless steel set from ebay on sale for only $140, regular MSRP was close to $400. I installed them myself, it was easy other than the hassle of holding heavy hardware in place getting the bolts started by myself (recommend two people). The steps are extremely solid, they're bolted into the frame in 3 locations, two of which are mounted close to the center of the vehicle, all mounting hardware is very heavy duty.

So I'd recommend checking ebay and watching for a sale, and make sure that you buy the high quality stainless.

I paid $149 for my Black Powder-coated Nerf Bars from Ebay. I probably got the majority of my mods from Ebay so I highly recommend shopping there. Also, I was going for the understated look which is the reason I got the Black. The good thing in my case is that the Black Powder-coated stuff is usually cheaper. I am not really into the chrome/stainless steel look but I think they look good on the Rogue none the less. As for installation, the cost was free and it probably took 30 minutes on the driver side and 15 minutes to install on the passenger side once you know what to do and interpret your directions. You sacrifice a short afternoon at the most. On my set you had to actually drill ONE small hole for a little attaching support bolt, WHICH I skipped since it was REALLY solid with the present set-up and the remaining bolts I used. I really didn't think I needed it since I was supplied with these really big supports & sturdy attachments for the frame where I knew it was immoveable no matter with or without this extra screw. :chuckle:

As for Black-Coated or Chrome/Stainless Steel look, buy what makes you happy and also what you would think would compliment your color too if you want. I chose Black just in case it does rust for some reason and I can use some rust convertor which ends up in a Black Primer. Plus, I could remove it and repaint it Black if I ever needed too. Well thats how I thought when contemplating the color.

My opinion of the benefits at least FOR ME, it gives you something to rest your foot while door is open. It helps shorter passengers and little children get into my vehicle. Since I am short, it helps me wipe my windshield and clean the top of my roof. It makes my CUV look more rugged and less like a mommy suv at the groceries. ( no offense to mom-mobiles )
Moreover, you need to ask yourself if your more prone to accidents in your environment since some have speculated on a higher chance of vehicle frame damage. Personally, if I ever get in an accident it is usually once every 20 years luckily for me. So ask yourself if your benefits outweigh your risks. :dblthumb: I think it is an acquired taste, for example I believe I am the only one in this forum who has Bullbars and you know how many Nissan Roguers are on here for the past 2-3 years?

Anyways, here's pictures of some Stainless-steel tubes all-around, actually the opposite of my personal Rogue set-up. :mike

Looks good! Didn't even know these were available for the Rogue. One question, do you lose a lot of clearance with these things attached?

I assume your talking about the bullbar. You will lose approximately 3 inches give or take. All I have to compare is a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer alongside my Rogue and the difference is 1 approximately 1 inch with the Lancer being slightly higher in Ground Clearance . (Lancer clearance was a little over 7 inches.) Anyways, I have never, how shall I say, scrubbed, scraped or hit the top of any curb because of it or maybe I practice safe parking who knows. :naughty: We also know that the Rogue's orginal clearance is higher than the usual mid-size sedan which helps. I even came across a dead cat which had a moderate elevation on the road, and I actually thought I would feel a thud as I drove over it since it was in the middle of the road and I couldn't avoid it, BUT NOTHING. I happen to drive over it as if it was not there.

Nerf Bar clearance, never really was an issue, so I never measured.

As for the rear tube, just for informative purposes, I already addressed in rhis in the past, even though it looks to low to protect against a parking lot bump. It does get tapped by the bumpers of mid-size vehicles as I measured it against the bumper of my father's 2010 camry. :bigthumb: Nobody has hit my bumper that I am aware of since I installed it. As you can see it is just as high as the muffler opening tube thing-a-ma-jig. I never had a problem there either.

My fuel economy is usually around 22mpg in the city and since changing to Penzzoil Plantinum Ultra I get 1-2 mph improvement on top of that.
