picked up a turbo finally and thought i'd post some pics for nico. its an apt dr55 which utilizes a garrett gt3071r modified with an apt housing as well as a few other minor changes. this is the exact setup the last owner boughthttp://cvr.me/store/index.php?...d=723he never even installed it and decided he wanted a bigger turbo so it sat for awhile. i wanted to sell it for $800 but dropped his asking price to $500. i used to work with the guy and he's a friend of mine so i checked it out really good and talked him down to $350 for a brand new turbo . and to my delight, it doesnt have subaru housings like i originally thought. the kit he got has adapters for subbies buts its a standard t3 flanges for inlet and outlet. heres a few pics after i brought it homethe blades are mintthe only thing is the wg is missing the flapper, so i'm boring it to 35mm and getting a 35mm flapper.

i already popped the housing off to get rid of the red

just thought i'd share

^ i'm not sure what you mean. i guess technically it was brand new 2 years ago but it was never installed, so imo its still brand new.

my thoughts exactly. its got corrosion on the coolant lines, and oxidization on the black half. not being a negative nancy, but rather a realist.

either way, that turbo for 350 is a deal. so no complaints on the pricing aspect.

alright i guess i'll clear things up a little bit, you are correct technically it isn't brand new, the guy i bought it from bought it 2 years ago and never installed it on his car, but he did purchase it from a local speed shop and i'm pretty sure he said it was cbrd. they used it on one of their demo cars and the turbo saw a few runs on the dyno and nothing more. when he purchased it he took it to a local diesel shop to have the turbo rebuilt cuz he thought there was minimal shaft play. they told him it'd be a waste of time to rebuild it since it was perfect and the little shaft play he felt was how all ball bearing turbos feel. so yes its true that it isn't brand new, but i wouldn't say its far from that. the subaru coolant fittings have extended corrosion only because they were used prior to his turbo since it wasn't subaru specific. i was on the phone with him today and asked how much he got it for, and he purchased it for $1700 for just the turbo and the adapters for subarus.

Just so you guys know I already told him to get the paint removed from the intake charge area. Simple tape off would have eliminated extra work jeff! Rarggg oh well.

Nice pickup, but I don't think you'll make the june7th deadline because of this new baby. Just a challenging assumption, prove me wrong!

it should, that housing sees like 200ish degrees and the paint is good for 500

yeah i wasnt too worried about the paint on teh inlet since it nice a fine sanding from sand blasting. and i think i can get it done, but it will be a challenge
