Ok so reviewing the maf and cas circuit. They are directly connected to eachother by one wire. Then they have a transmit and recieve wire to the ecu. I have a know bad maf and a just got another that show completely different symptoms.

1st maf:Piece of crap. Runs rich but with a good timing set. cas centered to make 15btdc. motor will sporadically die out. after a few mins of driving. will idle fine but die sometimes.

2nd maf:Makes me fully advance my cas to make 15btdc with the timing markers set appropriately. wierd. runs and idles fine.

getting a new maf for testing. Throw in some testing procedures for more evaluations. Any help from anyone is encouraged.

I'd like this to be a sticky for troubleshooting engine symptoms.

When you say Transmit and recieve you would mean the nissan system is a digital system, it's not. The later nissans are multiplexed but not these.

The wire they share is just a 12 V switched wire. The tx and rx wires on the maf is just a ground and 0-5v input signal. The CAS only sends 120 deg and 1 deg signals.

understood. Do you by chance know the logic if any the ecu/ecm computes.
