im sure people have seen them before, my question is do they work? in my last post about prettiest engines their was one on a posted image. The thing that really through me was i saw them on a 10sec volvo turbo in a issue of european car(he used dual bov's side by side)

the bov's in both pictures looked exactly the same, now my question is wether the bov on ebay is a exact copy of some better quality jdm model? tell me your opinions guys, i dont see why it would work, if the spring was weak i could always replace that myself.

id find out who makes it, and dont cheap out on parts it will only lead to buying another one and spending more then you would have in the first place.

Don't do it! It looks too much like the turboxs BOV and they are crap (at least te ones that I've watched people install). STick with the th trusted names and stay away from that "Pretty-boy BOV" HKS super sequential one. That's a leak just waiting to happen. Blitz , Greddy and the HKS racing BOV are good ones.

Hey Dee, if the SSQV leaks, send it back... HKS states """Unlike other blow off valves that are push type, the SSQV will not leak under high boost conditions nor under vacuum at idle. Being of a pull type valve structure, the SSQV can not physically leak under any level of boost because boost pressure also keeps the valve closed against its seat. The SSQV is actuated by pressure alterations only, not by the rate of pressure or vacuum in the line, which ensures a quick valve response and complete closure during idle. On typical blow-off valve designs, a large valve is utilized in order to accommodate high boost / high horsepower applications. However, these large valves tend to react slowly and require high activation pressure to open, therefore are not able to activate and prevent compressor surge at light-load conditions. On the other hand, smaller, fast reacting valves do not discharge the airflow capacity required for high horsepower applications and tend to creep open and leak as the boost pressure overpowers the spring on these push type valves. For maximum performance, the HKS SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, along with a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The SSQV is engineered to initially open the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions, then sequentially opens the secondary valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions. The SSQV is constructed of polished billet aluminum, which ensures long-term durability and visual appeal. The mounting base utilizes a circular mounting flange that provides exception flow and complete secure mounting via a C-clip snap ring and O-ring gasket. The triple-fin discharge port design produces a powerful and unique aggressive blow-off sound along with added visual distinction. The HKS SSQV is available as a universal unit for custom applications and also by vehicle specific kits for bolt-on applications. Vehicle specific HKS SSQV kits come complete with all needed mounting flanges, brackets, and miscellaneous hardware for a bolt-on installation. For Universal SSQV applications, weld-on flanges are available in steel and aluminum for custom installation. """

I personally prefer the Tial BOV. The HKS racing II retails for $510!! Thats just too much $$, but of course it will hold up to 3bar. Like I mentioned somewhere else, Greddy makes a Type R with a STIFF SPRING. That thing opens at like 9psi of vacuum!! (stiffer than my Tial wastegate spring!)

Crazy

i got a Turbo XS typr H blow off, it didn;t leak with me at 14.7psi, i stretched the spring in it and used the spacers to increase the tension on the spring. i guess i'll wait to see what it does at 14-25psi..

They commonly recommend the Greddy series and I personally used the old blitz super sound unit and they both perform flawlesly. "Drumma" these guys with SSQV BOVs end up either selling them on ebay or locally because most of the local stores don't take back used BOVs and they sure as heck don't want to have to send it back to HKS and risk getting the run around as well as down time, so now they just avoid them (Not all of them, but some of them).

Hmmm, I have the TurboXS Type H34 also....it looks well built (I like all metal :)) I'll just wait and see if it leaks or not, I thought you were happy with yours Jon, are you not anymore? If worse comes to worse I found out the RB25 factory BOV holds boost really well so I can just leave it on there and ebay the TurboXS :-D Actually...I'll probably do this anyway.
