Twenty-nine New Jersey bars and restaurants, including 13 TGI Fridays, were accused of substituting cheap booze — or worse — for the good stuff while charging premium prices.

As part of Operation Swill, investigators collected 1,000 open bottles of vodka, gin, rum, scotch, whiskey and tequila from the wells of the bars, state Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa said.

Rubbing Alcohol? Really? I'm sure no one is shocked that 13 TGI Fridays were involved. I'm really not surprised by switching cheap liquor for top shelf. I'm sure that happens a lot and people don't notice. What gets me are the bottles of dirty water and rubbing alcohol with caramel color. How new are you at drinking that you can't tell the difference between bourbon and the stuff you use to clean your house?

Have you seen what most people order at TGIFs, Rubys, Chilis & Applebees? It's so diluted and polluted with fruity crap that they can't taste the alcohol to begin with. Sadly, that's probably the point.

America, for the most part, isn't the land of bourbon or rye - it's become the land of the Appletini and or Red Bull & vodka. Like Colin Farrell,I'm a fiend mojitos, but I'm just as likely to pull a bottle of Glenmorangie out of the cabinet or Ketel One from the freezer when I want something to drink. Or the occasional Mason jar. ;)
