Nissan, Renault in Talks to Merge, Create New Company

They are just in talks and there is a good chance it will never happen, but if it does...oh man. I already will not buy another Nissan, maybe an Infiniti, but not one from this "new" company.

Nissan should get rid of Renault! Go back to building good cars.

What do you guys think?

I heard about this merge, and I hate it. Why can't Renault merge with crappy Toyota. I see the potential for Nissan to be better. If this happens, like I said before, Nissan lost my money.

I was thinking the same thing.
They are already merged, they just have 2 different names. Might as well make it official and save on taxes.
Like that old hag you've been dating for 25 years... just get married already and file jointly...

IICR, Nissan already had a name change in the USA, from Datsun to Nissan. I think another name change, will just confuse the general public and some car people. Definitely, this is a horrible idea.

Well at this point, the Nissan name is already ruined, so there wouldn't be any worth to changing it now.

I CARE!

Can you imagine what would happen if you had an emergency pit stop at a gas station that exclusively bought Nissan toilet paper? A roll of that stuff would have Continuously Variable Transferability - it "adapts" to the situation.

At the end of the day, sure the paper is guaranteed by the company for 5 years 100,000 wipes, but a few calls to consumer affairs explaining how you ended up with s*** all over your hands because of their toilet paper would go from "it's designed to let you feel the effectiveness of the wipe" to "we'll give you $5 if you wash your own hands and never call us again."

Sadly, that is exactly how it would go down.
"The paper is performing as designed"
"....you mean your goal was to get s*** all over your hands?!"
"That is correct"

Carlos Ghosn is an excellent CEO he brought Nissan from the brink of bankruptcy, but I do not agree to kill off both brands and become one brand. Nissan and Renault have a lot of history and Brand recognition on their own. I do see the chance for all three companies to share Platforms, engines, transmissions and technology from all three brands Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi improving quality across the board.

You must be losing your mind if you think those three combined will increase quality across the board... Mistsubishi and Renault make some of the biggest piles of crap known to man.

WTF??? :wtf2:

IDK what to say that you are a troll and you don't know what the real facts are. Why don't you go and buy a Mitsubishi Mirage and let us know how that 72 HP 3banger is. And Renault.... I am not sure if there is even any car enthusiast following of that brand other than Gas Kings. Carlos Ghosn made Nissan s*** in lots of places, not making it any better. I'd bet you never had your rear end in a new Nissan. And show me the brand recognition for Renault, since Nissan has Godzilla and the Z car as its brand recognition.

I personally think Ghosn just fell into the job at the right time. Economy was turning back around and sales were picking up naturally. Classic case of right place, right time.

Personally, I say screw em. They wanna merge with Renault, let em sign their own death warrant. I haven't been legitimately interested in a modern Nissan in years.

Can't we just start a campaign/petition to remove Ghosn from CEO position (from auto industry) and have someone better? Clearly, Ghosn suck ************* (lets just say those were lots of explicit words that I censored, to get my point across). Now, I got a stupid $2500 repair bill waiting for me because smarthead Ghosn and lowlife Nissan engineers said f*** it and lets not sell the dang hatch spoiler as a part, but instead lets have the body shop charge a s*** ton of money to replace the da** trunk. What a bunch of a********!

Spoiler? Go to a local surf board shop and have a new spoiler whittled out of foam and glassed like a real surf board. Light weight and strong.

Something you'll learn later in life... petitions never, ever work.

Are we just forgetting that Nissan and Renault are already connected? What will this actually change in the grand scheme of things? The Pikes Peak "Renault Sport Dacia Duster" ran a VR38DETT.... it's all in the family!

Picture because it was awesome

Alright! I'm just gonna hope that Nissan finds its a way out of this mess and becomes reliable and what it used to be (not what it currently is).
