Ok car techs, I have a big problem and I have no friggin idea what is wrong. When I get on the gas and kick the transmission into the passing gear, the car acts like it's not pumping any gas to the injectors, and then it dies. It kinda sputters like it's running out of gas, but it doesn't do it all the time. I don't know what in the hell it's doing. Could somebody please help me out here? Thanks.

u mean when u floor it the engine sputters but when you are light on the gas it runs fine?

check your spark plugs, see if they are full of carbon built up, to me it sounds like it gets overly rich when your at WOT. ECU throwing any codes?

check ur fuel delivery system, thats what it sounds like to me, old clogged filters, or a tired pump.

No it doesn't run better when I lighten up on the gas. Also, I have no idea what WOT is and I don't have anything to check the ECU with. A friend of mine told me that it may be that the fuel filter is clogged. It only does it when I get on it and kick it down into the passing gear.

Ok, yes it does act up when I'm at full throttle. As to the ECU, I didn't even think of going to that section to look yet, so thanks for the info there. But, here's another dumb sounding question. If you screw up big time and cross two spark plug wires, would it make the car do that at full-throttle? I ask this because I don't think I crossed them, but in 90 degree weather with sweat in my eyes, I may have been a moron and done just that. Thanks.

Well, in reply to that last post, now it does it even when I ease on the gas. If you go in order on the distributor cap, the polug wires go 1, 2, 4, 3. That's in a circle from the number one position. I'm in the process of changing the fuel filter now, and it's a b**ch! I can't get the bottom hose off because I can't even see the friggin thing. Hopefully this helps it, but if not, I have no idea what to do after that. If anyone has any better ideas than the filter (that is if this doesn't help it any) feel free to let me know.

Ok, I also haven't checked the ECU yet, so I don't know if the thing thinks there's anything wrong. I plan on doing that if the filter change doesn't work out. Hopefully the new filter rectifies the situation. I will say one thing though, I have no intention of taking it to a shop and letting someone I don't know work on my car. So, if I have any more trouble after this, I'll be sure to ask more stupid questions. I hate not knowing enough about my own car to fix it. Thanks.

go the other way when looking at the cap ...its 1,3,4,2. if your filter doesnt do the trick get a fuel gauge and rig it up under a windsheild wiper so you can see it while driving. drive the car and watch the fuel pressure at the moment it happens. if the pressure drops off i would say a possible pump problem, also have you had both the fuel lines off the supply tubes to the rail recently. if you have them crossed when you go to accel the pressure regulator on the fuel rail would end up cutting the fuel instead of increasing the pressure
