ok my friend was running around 15 pounds on a stock t25 with stock side mount, 255 fp, pretty much stock sr20det... ok will we was doing a pull just messing around and he was in the top of 4th and then white smoke comes pooring out of the bottom of the car. He told me the car shut off as soon as it happen. we pop the hood and there's oil everywhere , the dip stick got blown almost all the way out, but there wasn't any signs where oil could come from besides that.. we turned over a couple times and it sounded like there was no compression... we pulled the plugs... cylinder 1 look like detonation.. the spark plug was not black at all and the tip of it was kinda chiped/scrached off. cylinder 2 3 4 was full of oil.. which is not good... we need some of ur opinions.. we think that it might have jumped timing and when that happen the cam shaft sensor would make the engine cut off.. but how would the cylinders have oil in them?

It sill turns over fine with no knocks we can here.the boost was cranked up but it should be know where near breaking internal wise.Cylinder 1 could have detnat when all the vavles where closed and when that happend it had no where to let the pressure out so it blew off the dip stick and runind the rings in the other cylinders..

Theres a couple more things.. we just wanna make sure we have a good start so we can figure out what went wrong.. well no f***ing flamming for those that wanna be faggits

Tore it down today scroll down and check pics.. :D

Ohh.. my god.. check this s*** out lol first thing we did today was take off the vavle cover and check the timing... it was perfect... next step was compression test... this is where it got bad... cylinder 1 30 psi cyl 2 0 psi cyl 3 30 psi cyl 4 0psi.. lol wtf??? rings are gone.. so we tear down to see how bad it is.. and what went wrong .

so we found out that cylinders 1 an 3 leannnnned out hard .. so yea there we go

Sounds to me like you were TRYING to blow it up.

15 psi with stock injectors and stock fpr on a turbo that can handle 14psi max.

Side mount too, ouch.

Nice, Thinking will do you good next time.

(I know its not you, its your friend but you know what i mean.)

You got that right. But that doesn't stop ppl from talking about engine 'X' like it's some kind of God-motor.

Exactly! He should of had a fmic in the first place if he has so much money...Personally I wouldn't even turn my head to look at a boost controller if I didn't upgrade the surrounding parts needed to make it run properly and handle the boost.

wow nice job lol kinda sounds like my buddy, he had a fully built type R motor in his civic that already had 12:1 compression, put a turbo kit on it and the wastegate was set at 12 lbs (unknown to him though it was at 7). he ran it on 93octane with stock injectors and blew his rings and destroyed his pistons

Dude, this is awesome. Awesome because he had fun, and it blew up. This is what these cars are for, fun, and learning. Now he gets to really learn his engine and rebuild it. I am glad you are there to help him along and influence the rebuild. Have fun with all the work you have ahead of you and don't forget to make him read the FAQ stickies with power recommendations, that way he will be well informed about boost settings!

I guess thats one way to look at it. I prefer to learn from the well documented mistakes of others and do it right the first time rather than blowing up a $2000 motor and laughing about it.

But thats just me...

Agreed.

I take my time in modding my car for three reasons:

1. I read a lot to understand2. Plan for my needs3. I have no money for my plans

But one can dream, and I believe eventually and slowly over time I will get my car where I want it to be.
